That was my initial reaction too and i posted that but decided to edit that bit out due to the likelihood of being wrong based on the lack of more specific identifying features. Wherever i find A. muscaria i also find A. rubescens. Generally in greater numbers. They are very common around here. Even so I've still yet to try eating them. I don't feel i understand the genus well enough (i don't know much about the majority of species people post on here) even though i think i can ID that particular species so easily. I could ID A. phalloides, and A. virosa is easily avoided due to the obvious colour but the rest i am completely unsure about and i feel like i should be well versed in all the toxic species before attempting consumption of the edible ones. With the exception of A. muscaria of course. The genus itself very is to ID though.

I would take any erowid experience report with a grain of salt. Articles on catnip and valerian root are titled: "A rollercoaster ride to the peaks of god's visionscape and free-falling into the oblivion of the human subconciousness".
absolutely. but then you have to take everything from the internets with a pinch of salt, no?
I think if you read enough of them, you'll get the general jist of what they're about, and what not to do etc. (like eat a shit ton of Datura seeds. Man some of those trips reports are hilarious, in a "ended up being held down by 4 cops whilst the doctor tried to sedate me" kinda way )

I think I've only ever found Amanita pantherina once. Amanita rubescens seems much more common around my way, near London/Essex. I often find what appears to be Amanita fulva or something similar but I've always been too chicken to try it. I've never tried Amanita rubescens, either.

A. fulva is extremely common in the forest i visit. It's already around. If it helps, i tried it once (i didn't intend on swallowing it, i just wanted to see if i was missing anything because of how common it is) and to me tasted pretty bad so you're not missing much.

Sun dry for 3-5 days and jar once cracker dry. This will ensure the maximum potency of your Amanitas but honesty I've dried them, threw em in a zip lock bag n left em around the house; exposed to light constantly. Still were exceptionally potent 8 months later.

That might be asking a lot in Scotland lol. Or indeed the UK. I use the airing cupboard for drying things.
