Anyone just hunt for psilocybes just for fun?

Forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place but I have just one quick question. Ever since my last trip, I don't really care for tripping on them anymore but however I would still LOVE to find them. I dont hunt to trip, I hunt for the satisfaction of finding something so rare. Just curious if anyone else is like this?

Yes I'm pretty much the same. I can't deal with tripping any more but I still think it's cool finding something psychoactive.

Me too. I'll take a modest dose of mushrooms maybe once or twice a year. Picking the same old species of shrooms can get boring though, so I like to bring a buddy or two along and just have fun when I do go pick.
Finding active Pluteus species is still really exciting for me.

Yes they are really cool! Here's a collection I found last year: http://mushroomobserver.org/195398?q=2csVu

i do!
partly because i never find enough of anything to actually use lol
i mean, what am i gonna do with one cinct i find in a potted lowes plant or the three or four reeeeaaallly little bluefeet i found last year.
its still a blast when i find one though!
just cuz!
if i had to think about why the just cuz, i'd probably say 1) its rare so its like finding a four leaf clover 2) cuz its illegal (shhh.. contraband matey!) and its like giving the finger to the man and being a pirate at the same time. 3) it shows how erudite and bohemian i can be if i want to (be.)
but i get such a great mood (when bugs aren't eating me) just being out in the woods the endorphins must be goin' pretty good regardless of what i find.
i get 'altered states' just being out there. my primate brain seems to enjoy it because i keep going back in spite of the bugs.

Finding massive patches of active fungi is always a thrill and never gets old to me, such energy those patches put out humbles me.
Psychedelics never bore me though, sure I don't like to dose like I did in the past which was 2-3 times a month, I am to busy with adult shit now to do so, but when the time comes to dose I get just as excited as I did in the past.
You can have to much of a good thing, moderation is one of the keys to life.

This was the first year i've dosed since 2012
Each mushroom has it's own 'feel'
Cubes hit like being blindsided by a wave. Strong and unpredictable, fun if you can catch the wave.
Caerulipes were like being lifted onto a cloud. Light clean smooth. Best in light doses watching a sunset over the mountains with a bottle of wine.
Ovoids brought on feelings of weight. Heavy exhausting and powerful. Not sure what to say about them, you feel incredibly 'stuck in mud' and tired but are unable to sleep. Brave psyconauts sign here, safety not guaranteed. High dosing may be the ticket for this species consider serious CEV and mental prolapse
Ether way, i get a lot more from the hunts than the finds. It's all about the journey right? not the destination.
-------------------- Ps. Allenii, Arcana, Azure, Baeos, Caerulipes, Cyan, Ovoid, Subreg, etc FT - Only seeking Ps. woodlovers - legal USA + CAN - Intended for microscopy use only

Wow, until this thread I thought I was the only one. I love to just walk around in the bush with some friends (or alone) and hunt for psychoactive fungi. I am also a pretty keen photographer and love to take pictures of mushrooms. Now that I say it, it sort of sounds like I'm a birdwatcher... But with magic mushrooms.
I'm trying to work my way through all the species that grow in my area as a challenge of sorts. The one that is evading me at the moment is Psilocybe semilenceata (not very commonly hunted or found in my area)
Although I must admit, I do like to trip on mushrooms every now and again when the right opportunity arises.

When you do find semilanceata then be sure to save them and enjoy them, they are the best of the best imo. I'm not sure if they grow in Australia though, it has to be pretty cool and wet for a few weeks for them to fruit, and i'd guess they need northern hemisphere seasonal weather for the mycelium body to grow aswell.
I picked plenty of liberty caps for the fun of it and wasn't really taking many but i knew the time would come where i would put them to good use. If you guys aren't going to ever take them or give them to friends i'd suggest to just take pictures and not pick any so they can drop all their spores.
