Contam or Genetic deformities?
    #2209345 - 12/30/03 06:46 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

A friend has been using the same strain of GT for about 3 generations now. He has noticed that the first flush of a casing looks awesome. Although, the second and third flush always contain very deformed mushrooms. They usually look as if the mushroom is normal, but part of the cap has torn away from the veil and is growing up. Any idea's? If itis too hard to picture from my text then I will post some pictures next time it happens. Thanks

What are you using to treat your casing and environment between flushes? It may be that the use of antimicrobial sprays is building up toward later flushes and causing these deformities.

Another possibility is that the terrarium/environment contains contamination [e.g. Verticillium or others] and the latency period just happens to be as long as a first flush
I doubt it, but it's possible, I suppose.
