Cracker dry is best. You want them to easily snap when you try to bend them. Some people suggest tearing them into smaller pieces but i dont think its necessary.
Its hard to give a fair price because it is so different in different areas but where i live dry oysters normally go for about 10 to 25 USD a pound (450g)

I would not dry them in the sun. Medicinal compounds may be degraded. I would not take the chance if I was consuming them or selling them even. If you need to do it outside you can build some sort of dehydrator. there are tons of different ways. some complicated and some not. you can still make a solar dehydrator that doesn't keep the product drying in direct sunlight.

oysters need intense light/sunlight to grow properly. I wouldn't worry about drying them in the sun aside from them not getting cracker dry any time soon.

From what I've read being dried in sunlight will increase the levels of vitamin D in mushrooms. http://www.fungi.com/blog/items/place-mushrooms-in-sunlight-to-get-your-vitamin-d.html
It will be difficult to dry them enough to store safely. Unless you are in a very arid climate. You may need to use a desiccant chamber of some sort to finish them up.

Sunlight when growing and sunlight when drying is a completely different thing. It shits on psilocin content (as an example). Like I said, it is something to consider. It affects different mushrooms differently.

I've only ever seen one shitty study that even resembles linking sunlight and psilocin degradation. Most people who cite that study only read the title maybe the abstract but its not compelling or convincing. I'm not sold

Im not referring to any shitty study. If you search on the forums you will find that this has been something taught for a long time. If you have never heard about storing actives in a "dark", cool place... then I don't know what to tell you. Its nothing new. They don't tell you to store it in a dark place for stealth reasons... Its because UV degrades actives. Same with a lot of medicinal compounds. Like I said... I said it was something to consider. Hopefully you understand that consideration is not stating anything as fact. only something to be looked into.

There's only a couple scientists here and a lot of people who just say shit.
It's been said for a long time that's about it. People also quote 83f as being the best temperature to cultivate cubes. People also say cubes need a cold shock, people say a lot of shit they think is true just because a lot of people have said it over and over.

I don't think anyone is saying to store your mushrooms in direct sun light. The link I posted earlier talks about drying the mushrooms in the sun, not growing them in the sun.
"We compared the vitamin D levels of three sets of mushrooms, all from the same crop. The first was grown and dried indoors. The second set was dried outdoors in the sunlight with their gills facing down. The third set of mushrooms was dried outdoors in the sunlight with their gills facing upwards for full sun exposure. The most vitamin D was found in shiitake dried with gills up that were exposed to sunlight for two days, six hours per day. The vitamin D levels in these mushrooms soared from 100 IU/100 grams to nearly 46,000 IU/100 grams (see chart). Their stems, though, produced very little vitamin D, only about 900 IU. Notably, vitamin D levels dropped on the third day, probably due to over-exposure to UV. "

Congratulation... people say a lot of stupid shit. I'm glad I am not the only one who has notices. You make a great point, sorry. Just try to read my posts before putting words in my mouth. It will solve a lot of your rambling tendencies.

Sorry Foraged. I should have made it clear that I was not referring to anything you posted. I was just reiterating what I said. Which was that It was something to consider. because a lot of medicinal compounds are degraded by UV light. Just like many pharmaceuticals. Hopefully someone that wishes to speak of anything I said in the future can read what I said first.
