I'm leaving for Telluride in a few hours. I have a few questions and I will post my finds here.

So, as I write this I'm packing up to spend the weekend in Telluride. The mushroom festival will be going on, but I didn't buy tickets. I used to live up there so I'm really just going for the nostalgia, to celebrate my birthday, and of course forage like crazy. I'm bringing my SAB and some pre poured antibiotic plates so I can clone any really good finds.

I know there will be tons of chanterelles, porcini, and oysters, but beyond that I don't know much. I was hoping to maybe find a wild gymnopilus. If any of you have foraged in Telluride before, what can I expect to find? I was planning on hunting in the aspen groves instead of the pine forests, but I'll be hiking all over the place. Here's my first pic -- the portable mushroom cloning kit I put together

Anyway, any advice about hunting in Telluride will be tremendously appreciated, and I will post all of my finds here

Look up some info on Psilocybe telluridensis if you're going to be hunting around Telluride. It is a reportedly undocumented species of blue-bruising, active Psilocybe. I believe that to this day, there has only ever been one specimen found. It was passed around and given to Paul Stamets at one of the festivals years ago, and somebody managed to take a cloned culture. If that culture is still being maintained, then it can be bred with another specimen should one ever be found. We've been having an unusually moist and humid summer this year, so the chances are much better than in a lot of previous years.

Yeah I've heard of that one, but I also read that no other sample besides the type collection has ever been found. Anyway, here's my first find. Some kind of agaricus, but I don't know what species.

Here are the most recent finds. Found a beautiful porcini, but I'm wondering about the other 2. Possible hypsizygus and pleurotus?

Looks like young Agaricus augustus.

Edit: I'm not sure they are though, because the ones I've found are usually a little squarer.
