nice touch with the ice cube tray! I use a coke bottle myself, these look good if you just need a set of plates on the go! You could save yourself a couple questions by saying something in OP on cube size maybe?
cant see the vid but thats my comp. problem. the previous ones have been real good bet this one's too

oh yeah I saw that, I was thinking of ice/liquids to agar ratios! I shoulda made that more clear. it doesnt really matter as it'll be fine in a wide range but newbs like to obsess and us others like to skew things for germination f.ex.

oh ok. the water and ice equates to half a cup of H20 to 1.5 grams of agar. added that too.

Good stuff munch, I maybe was a bit of a nit pick but my intentions were good
gonna try using a cube tray next time, sounds pretty sweet to just use a set no of ice cubes and not measure shit anymore!

Can you maybe link up what kinda ice tray you're using? Would hate to use one that actually is different enough to fuck up the agar/water ratio like space was saying. I measure everything pretty exactly when doing my agar, so I'd want to be confident that my tray is meeting my measurements, or whichever adjustment to them I'm trying to make.
Or is your point more to take the amount of water you need and disperse it across as many cube-slots as it fills in your tray to see what the repeatable amount is for yourself?

Nice! I've always wondered if grain water could be used in agar. Doesn't the agar need a bit of sugars in it too? I mean, I imagine this has clearly worked for you, but I have read that the composition of agar media consists of starch, sugars, and agar.

yes, the 1/2 cup of water was premeasured, then poured into the slots, which equated to 5 slots. Ideally, I would shoot for a 50/50 mix of water/grainwater, but rather than cut 1 ice cube in half, I just went with 40/60 cuzz it works fine. I've also updated the OP with some more verbage to address this.
I've also added honey to this mixture before and it fucked it up royally. 30+ plates all contaminated as fuck. you won't need additional nutes when using grainwater.

Going to be doing grains later on today. Been wondering what to give my isolate other than PDA, this is the solution.

Doing nearly the same thing here, but i prep the agar directly and freeze it in ice cube bags
i just take 2 cube for each agar plate when i need it. No prep ^^

When I don't have a free tray to use, I just dump it into a thick cup or Tupperware and toss in the freezer. When I need it, I set my wire steak rack on top of boiling water and set the cup on the rack. Thaws out quickly and I just measure out the amount I need.

This is great Munch. I was just thinking about switching up my media and this is going to work perfect. Any reason this wasn't added to your videos thread? Looks like you've got a bunch of gems on your channel. People should check them out if they haven't already. I especially liked this one.

I made some agar about 500 ml worth and used a single ice cube worth of wbs grain soak water. My plates are running pretty slow and weak looking. Some stalling out completely.
Would you say i should up the ice cubes to anywhere between 5 and 10 per 500 ml?

I think there is some variation between millet water, oat water, rye water, etc. Millet seemed to be the weakest brew, while the oat seemed to be the strongest brew. I diluted my recipe because at one point, my agar was nutrient rich and growing all kinds of funky shit. Never had stalling problems, thou. Depending on your grains and how you prepared them, there is probably a good amount of YMMV to consider.

Nice idea with the ice cube trays. I just had mine in a jar in the fridge. It went bad before I needed any more agar.
