Quick! Get as many seeds and cuttings as you can, while you can!
I wish I would have before it became illegal here.

agreed eh, Stock up, sally plants ain't hard to find in canada, there are 2 Legit vendors I know of, or, try the marketplace here on the shroomery. salvia will be illegal before we know it! it'll be a prohibited plant/substance in exactly 180 days from the time this thread went up. Makes me wonder, when it's no longer available in headshops/online will its popularity decrease? possible it could increase, prohibiting sally D. could be 'beneficial'(for drug dealers?)It'd be interesting to see Strong extracts and plant material turn into a street drug. I could see this as a possibility, not as an instantaneous change, though idk, we could equally see it vanish from our moose infested country. salvia has a Intense and unique effect I believe Prohibition won't bring a decreased popularity, but, will only change its market; It's gonna end up underneath the law, chillin' with the others: weed/shrooms/cocaine/meth...in 2016 salvia(metaphorically chilling )

Actually, I believe the change to the laws just penalizes trafficking the plant and its extracts. Growing plants for personal use will be ok if I read this right... "Simple possession will not be prohibited"
"First, this Order will add S. divinorum and its preparations and derivatives to Schedule IV to the CDSA. This will prohibit the production, trafficking, possession for the purposes of trafficking, importation and exportation and possession for the purposes of exportation of these substances, unless as authorized under the regulations or a section 56 exemption. Simple possession will not be prohibited under the CDSA. The maximum penalties associated with conducting the activities listed above will range from one year of imprisonment for a person found guilty of an offence prosecuted by summary conviction, to three years of imprisonment for a person found guilty of an offence prosecuted by indictment."
And...
"In response to public input received during the consultation process and subsequent analysis of this proposal, Health Canada has amended the original proposal to add S. divinorum to Schedule IV of the CDSA instead of to Schedule III of the CDSA. This change eliminates the prohibition on the simple possession of these substances and reduces the maximum penalties for a number of offenses, such as trafficking and import, from 10 years to 3 years of imprisonment."
Nobody has to burn their personal plants, yay!!

And as well...
"Requests for exemptions under section 56 of the CDSA authorizing the use of these substances for traditional medical or spiritual purposes will be evaluated by the Minister on a case-by-case basis."
I suggest waiting for a more "liberal" Canadian govt to apply for this exemption.
It seems that they've made these laws to keep head shops from selling x times extracts to little Billy Canuck, but it'll be ok for Billy to visit his weird uncle and pick a couple big leaves.
Seems they've actually thought about protecting the plant from extinction

And last but not least...
I'm assuming trading a plant amongst collectors and personal users would be perfectly legal seeing they would be for personal use ?!? As long as they aren't imported or exported?
And it mentions nothing about seeds, so trading would be again, legal, except import and export ?

Agreed...
"The Liberals say there isn’t enough evidence to prove salvia is harmful or has long-term health effects. “The problem about this government is that it makes decisions based on some kind of ideological whim, and not based on good evidence,” said health critic Hedy Fry."

Health critic Hedy Fry is right about that, though left or right I think the whole of our political system is ideological, "Drugs are bad(should be illegal)" is a conservative example, what the liberal speakers seem to be doing, is contradicting them saying, "Drugs are good" without the proof(science) this idea is meaningless, people who say "drugs are bad" equally have no solid proof. Left vs right, these are 2 collectively contradicting ideals that the people must choose between. but idk.. I need a beer. peace
cheers

absolutely! i'd push to get one before winter hits, a plant wouldnt survive the canadian postal system during that time of year.

If I could get cuttings to root proper in some rockwool I'd gift a ton of them away. For some reason salvia d is the hardest plant I've ever taken cuttings from. None of my buddies have problems but for me only 1/5 cuttings will survive, sometimes less. I don't know what my problem is

Brought my plant inside. It was cooking in the sun, +(dry asfuck) no humidity. looks like any ordinary house plant. 5 monther Mother.
Took some cuttings from her but lost 2/2, both rotted Dunno what I did wrong ,(vermiculite + water + rooting hormone + 5 inch cuttings, in seperate shot glasses. Maybe I fucked up with the rooting hormones?)

Experimenting with these little things I got for cut roses from flower store, promising for clones. You can fill them full of water and they don't leak very easily.
