When will it finally be legal?
    #22086675 - 08/13/15 12:42 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

What year do you think weed will become legal recreationally everywhere in the United States? Do you think after it's legalization any other drugs will soon follow (if so which ones)?

Gay marriage didn't become legal until ~36 states made it legal(I think?) So maybe reefers won't be around everywhere until 25 states make it legal, since there's less of a stigma behind reefers than gay sex

i dont think it will ever be, we are in a international treaty with 126 other nations stating marijuana and a couple other narcotics must be placed in the highest most restrictive scheduling the country in name has for controlled substances. for usa thats schedule 1.

the first problem is we will never break that treaty because if we do shit will hit the fan for the united states and it would not be good, this country will never break that treaty.

secondly i dont know how long it would even take to get together with the u.n. and each of those 126 other countries to change it, nevermind actually convince them to change it.

what i see happening is many states allowing the use of recreational marijuana, along with a few states, primarily the bible belt, keeping it illegal recreationally and medically. this causing a need to keep around our DEA and such.

another problem is the fact that once it becomes recreationally legal the pennalties for having illegal marijuana(i.e. over your possesion limit, over your plant limit, illegal transfers) will be astronomically worse, federally and probably by state as well, than they were before it was even medically legal.

why should we care about a treaty with other countries? if anything its the other countries who should be worried about offending us, not the other way around.

This is an informed post.  The international treaties play a critical role and are often overlooked IMO.

It really pisses me off that people who need it extremely bad medically have to break some law that shouldn't be there in the first place to get it.

it doesnt matter what we care about, it was signed by our country and if its broken in any way those countries have the right to invade our country with their military force, and if we are the only one wrong out of about 80-90% of the world, merica or not we are fucked.

im pretty sure its a really long war treaty, like if someone breaks it then thats our rights, by the u.n. to go and attack them with out military, they just snuck that little part about drugs in there inbetween the fine print.

it has nothing to do with offending anyone. it has to do with what contries can and cannot do, the guidelines of which, about every country in the world agreed upon.

also the fact that people who need medicine cannot get it legally is THE LEAST of our worries as people, a society, humanity or the world as we know it.

i know as an avid pot smoked i will not be voting to legalize marijuna in my home state, because all it is goign to do is give the gvt control over their "controlled substances"

Why would we even have to break the treaty, couldn't the government disband the DEA (a huge sickening waste of tax dollars) and make the penalty for being caught with it extremely light?

we fight and fight only to have them allow us an OUNCE of their weed, that they liesenced people to grow, hat only big pharma and fortune 500 companys can afford, so they can run their stores and sell it for 320 an ounce. yeah thats freedom alright. like woohoo the gvt allows us an ounce of material and a few plants, for people only to get high.

theres so much more potential for marijuana and industrial hemp than allowing people a fuckin ounce so they can get high, its a disgrace if you ask me, and everyone is so fucking happy about it, not me, im disgusted people are happy about what our gvt is doing.

like yeah its exciting we can legally posses a flower, in like 10% of the country, if we are over 21, and bought it at a store, but oh wait you can only smoke it in the comfort of your own home, not anywhere beautiful like miles away form the nearest soul in a state forrest, or even on a park bench, oh you cant smoke in your house? well you cant go out on your porch and smoke, thats illegal. so lets take a drive too my buddys up the road to burn one, but after that im not going to be able to drive myself home for a few weeks till my blood level is below 5mg thc/per kg of your body weight. and if i dont want them to prick my finger(even if ive never smoked in my life) then its an automatic suspension of your driving liesence. its honestly fucking disgusting. you seriously would have gotten in less trouble if it were just decriminalized, its only giving them control of their controlled substances they have no control of.

trust me give it a year or two and it wont be as exciting anymore and everyone is going to be feeling what i just talked about above.

Alls I know is i'm in a state that has legalized it and every job interview you go to "can you pass a drug test, includes marijuana" .  So annoying.

One could go home after work, get shit faced puke on yourself/wife/children slap em all around and be fine the next day, atleast he's not on the pot..

Clean now, job lined up..now just have to wait a few weeks and see what their plan is as far as a test is concerned.  Small company, actually the only place i went to that hadn't mentioned a test.

because then too many people would lose their precious jobs.

if that werent the reason, then they could disband the dea and allow other gvt agencies, such as i.c.e., h.id.t.a., c.i.a., a.t.f, f.b.i. and the dozens of others to do drug raids. and if they lessened the restrictions of schedule 1, keeping marijuana, lsd and heroin in schedule 1 wouldnt break the treaty. but that would mean lsd and heroin, along with the devils lettuce would have to be accesible to us, legally. which would undermine the whole controlled substances thing because then any drug under schedule 1 would have to be availavle to us as well. which again our country would never do.

sorry to rain on your parade but its all just a shitshow.

Treaties can always be reformatted and appended. That's not an issue. When I was in Europe, I was surprised at how destigmatized pot was. The rest of the world does follow what the States do.

what if you buy the seeds, and plant it in many locations out in the forest and many other areas, this way you can heal the ecosystem (as cannabis is hooked into the ecosystem) and generally it can be more fun..

of course you may not get 100% results because someone may take them, but sure that's the way it is.

go on, buy the seeds, and plant them in many locations, make a map, drive around, explore, plant them all in different locations, not just in the same forest but dare I say up to 50 miles apart from each other, so yeah

go on
