Ha~ I was reading this whole thread waiting for it, so I could be the one to suggest In a Silent Way...so instead I'll suggest
The Complete In a Silent Way Sessions
Because of mostly the track Splashdown. Almost everything on the album is awesome though.
Been getting into Shakti a bit. It's some of John McLaughlin's more technical acoustic Indian stuff. Friday Night in San Francisco by the Guitar Trio (John McLaughlin, Al di Meola, and Paco DeLucia) is an awesome acoustic album with some fierce playing.
Tony Williams Lifetime - Believe It (1975)
Jean-Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean (1977)
Stanley Clarke - Journey to Love
Return to Forever - Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy, No Mystery
I like fusion. That's why I first got into Bitches Brew, because I was so enamored of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Also a far out Miles album, Get Up With It (1974) features intense drony sadness, funky shroomy vibe tune called Maiysha, one from the Jack Johnson sessions with Johnny Mac, and some horrible wretched shit called Rated X. Also, a second disc with some OK jamming on it. Mostly, everyone was on way too many drugs for it all to work out alright by this point in Miles' career.
Also, a great Jazz/Rock album Caravanserai by Santana (1972). Simply amazing trip music.

also, don't know if it counts, but Hot Rats by Frank Zappa, it kinda is jazzish.
The Soft Machine put out an amazing album in 1970. Their Third album, called Third. It has 4 tracks on it, 3 of which are fantastic technical and trippy jazz compositions, one of which is an extended meandering prog-rock tune. The second album is also amazing. And the first has its moments too (such as the drummer randomly muttering the lyric "I've got lights in my brain....we'll have fights in the rain" always cracks me up).
A good album by prog-rock group Gong as far as jazz influence being maxxed out is Angel's Egg (1973). Other Side of the Sky, Castle in the Clouds, Love is how you make it, Eat that Phone Book...very jazzy stuff for being super trippy prog.
I feel like I should be contributing way more info about jazz on this thread but I don't know what else to throw out there at this moment. Just not focusing on it enough really.

-------------------- When you see him look him in the eye, look him in the eye and he won’t dare to follow If you need to, hook him with your right, hook him with your right till he wiggles and wallows He sleeps atop a bag of raven’s legs, curled up rats napping by his head Takes his eye out with a ball point pen And makes nunchaku with his torn off legs You wake up with a hatchet over your head You wake up with a hatchet over your head

Geez voodoochild, I'd hate to sound grown up and all that, but more is not always better. If anything you need less with music that trippy. I had to stop BB and all other music once, because the tea turned out a little stronger than expected. Take care man. I want to hear only good news afterwards!
Love, Hanz.

Good tip, listening to it now. For me this is weed music. On trips I like instrumental.

.....thanks Hanz!...I appreciate the concern....I have been at 7-8 for half dozen trips.... I will never say I'm ready but I have been preparing! I also have a quarter of some thi mushrooms that a friend gave me a month or two ago. Considering trying those mushrooms and seeing if they're more potent than the ones I've been munching on! If I do the new shrooms I'll just eat the seven grams in case they're super potent! :-) I take my psychedelic experiences seriously and I am interested in high dose mushrooms up to the half ounce range. Starting to work my way up to that amount currently. I have had some amazing experiences but part of me always ponder the question of .....more?
The inexplicable nature of the psychedelic experience enthralls me and always makes me want to go further!.....how far....idk?......
....
....luv this though!

Ok voodoochild. At least you know what you're doing. Some people out there think that because they liked 3 grams they can therefore just jump to 9 grams and everything will be great. Of course if you're unprepared this is utterly terrifying. Anyway, good luck, and let us know how it was.
And that Lonnie Liston Smith is fantastic. That is the right stuff to listen to when the walls are alive!
