Apparently "rot" was poor wording for most of you. Not in the litteral sense it's common knowledge that mushrooms are the byproduct of mycelium. I mean leaving damaged mushrooms in your grow as a result of harvesting can result in contaminating your grow. When I made my post I wasn't referring to leaving your caped mushroom intact but your surrounding micro climate.Maybe "ruin" will work better for most of you if not oh well.

I knew what you meant. I was telling you that they are mycelium. It's all part of the network. It will turn back to fluffy white myc and completely recover. It doesn't contam unless the entire network is dying, and ready to contam. Every contamination is a result of the whole thing shitting the bed. Not because you left stumps on it. If it was then everyone would be getting contams after first flush, since the majority of us cut and leave stumps.

I waited a couple hours and they all seemed ready to pick. The debate you're having is pretty interesting, but for my first grow, I'm more concerned with the basics.

So as long as the veil seems sort of stretched/almost brokwn, the fruit doesn't have much longer to grow and is ready to pick?

The fruit can continue to grow but generally we pick as the veil tears .
