Im a noob and I need advice

First time attempt here. I bought a kit and followed the tek it came with. Im using brf cake tek. I didnt dunk and roll after birthing, i just let it colonize and birthed them on top of the jar lid. When I birthed them, the top of the cake (which is now the bottom, was not white with mycillium, a couple of the cakes had a spot on the bottom (which is now the top) which was not white either, there was still verm visible. My fruiting chamber is a few inches of perlite and I soaked it till it wouldnt hold any more water but there was no water standing. My fresh air is being supplied by an aquarium air pump that turn on for 10 minutes 4 times a day(as pet the tek that was supplied with the kit. for the first four or five days after birthing the cakes got very fuzzy with myc growth and i got one big fruit right away. Since then I got pins but most have come from the bottom (used to be the top) of the cakes. Im getting fuzzy growth on the base of most of the fruits now.
What needs to change. I expected fruiting from all over the cakes.

that tek is BAD! throw away the instructions!
unplug the aquarium pump man, if you wanna use it buy an aquarium!
now, does your fruiting chamber have holes in it? Shotgun fruiting chamber is automated, all you need to do is mist it a couple times a day.
can we get a pic of your setup? the fuzzy growth is from lack of fresh air.
the uncolonized parts should have been rinsed off, its food left open for molds to dine on!

they dont look too bad considering.
check out the sgfc and drill 1/4" holes in a grid pattern every 2 inches on all sides including top and bottom. it takes a while but its the way to go trust it.

the cakes are looking real healthy, just a bummer the tek didn't tell you to dunk and roll
follow the instructions in the link I posted, and watch www.mushroomvideos.com it has 4 free clips on the pf-tek (what you are doing) and shows you how to make the cakes yourself next time and also how to drill the holes in your chamber!
it will be fine for now, I've seen real sick mushrooms in those kind of setups, those arent bad at all! but read up on the chamber and get out a drill and 1/4" drill bit, make a hole every 2" in a grid pattern covering all 6 sides of the box!

Those don't look bad at all and really it's not a big deal because you can just dunk and roll after the first flush. Wait till the mushrooms mature, harvest them, and then dunk and roll, maybe you'll get a monster 2nd flush. No worries though really.
Do take the advice about the SGFC though and punch some more holes and cover the container.

you shouldnt roll after a flush, just gives contams a nice micro climate to grow in.

Thanks for the attention!
A couple questions. Why are most fruits coming from the bottom of the cake, or is that normal? After this first flush should i just dunk them and not roll them in verm? If so would that be a good time to ventilate my container. Ive had no problems keeping my humidity up. From what I gather, the fuzzy myc is from lack of fresh air exchange, the vents or holes should help this I would think.

they fruit at the bottom because that's where conditions are best, just let them do their thing! yes dunk but not roll next flush.
you should just drill the holes right away, we normally fan out the chamber after we mist it. simply fanning and relying on the air pump will most likely steal from your end results.

I think because this is my first time and Im naturally curious, Ive had the lid off three or four times a day and Ive been misting, so its getting a little more fresh air than the pump provides.
The tek that came with the spores was spot on. I inoculated 12 jars and all but one colonized. I just took the five that were the furthest along and put them in the fruiting chamber. I birthed the other six a few days ago into a different fruiting chamber thats a little bigger and I put holes in it for better air exchange. I noticed pins on them this morning.
The tek that came with the kit was just generic mushroom info, not necessarily for PC.
The subject in general is fascinating to me not to mention the benefit that results.
I dont think ill mess with cakes in the future. I think I understand the process and bulk substrate seems like a little less hassle and Ive got everything I need for that all around me. I have chickens and have ample seasoned compos, straw, birdseed. Ive got a canner and PC for canning beans and tomatoes. Im going to wait to see if i like this strain and if so ill do a spore print. Do the WBS tek and use a monotub or something similar.
Im interested in maybe using these spent cakes as a source for spawn maybe. I hate to waste them.
Oh and just to brag a little, a was away from the jars for a week while they were inoculating. When i returned one of the jars had pins in it already. When I birthed them one big fruit popped up right away and grew straight down into the perlite. I just let it go until the cap starting tearing the viel and I picked it (it only took two days!). That fruit wieghed almost three grams dried!

Those cakes look ok. That being said I would get rid of the air pump and put holes in the sides of the tub and on the lid. Get yourself a hygrometer (they're cheap and easy to find) and mist the cakes and fan them multiple times a day. You don't have any type of frequent air exchange that I can see, which could be part of your problem. The cakes produce c02 and that needs to go somewhere other than in the chamber and they need good ole oxygen in order to produce. Having one hole in the chamber and an air pump isn't an exchange enough for what those cakes need. I have also gotten most of my growth from around the bottom of the cakes rather than all over it. I would get some growth throughout but most of the pins sprout from the bottom and they would be ok. I suggest next go around don't use a kit. You can find plenty of different teks on here and they're easy to do, just remember to stay sterile and use common sense lol good luck, man!

No offense, but your advice is not totally up to par...
1st of all... there is no need to roll again after the first flush. 2nd. a built to spec tek is a 100% tried and true passive fruiting chamber.
This is sound advice....
