Best beginner strain??
    #2208281 - 12/29/03 07:27 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Im thinking B+ for my first grow because it is supposed to be forgiving.

does any body have info about the strain?

like its temp limit, size, colonizing\fruiting speed?

Never tried B+ but EQ is very forgiving and VERY fast!

IMO B+ is a terrible starting strain, it's soooo slow, and the most important thing you need to learn here is patience...Equadors are very good to start with.

i had equador and malabar going.....the equadors colonized over twice as quickly...EQ definitely sounds like a good strain for us beginners(it was my first go at it)

I also must give the thumbs up  on the burma from ralphster,it's a quick colonizer and pins easily. if you follow the PF tek with the burma you will have success and not have to wait to long.( although it will seem like along time as it is your first grow ! )

Puerto Ricans, very tough, faster than anything I've seen, will eat small colonies of contaminates<but dont skimp on the procedure.

EQ's.

But if your techniques are good, nearly any PF-TEK cubie will give roughly same results in a given amount of time.

I have about 20 old ass PF-TEK half pint jars. Been sitting (after the initial 2 week incubation run) in my incubator at about 74^F for about 3-4 months at least. Probably more. Basically they are Malabar and Brasilian.

Comments:

Both colonized about the same speed, no real "slow jars", and no contams. Due to living arrangements, birthing had to be delayed and delayed and delayed some more.

Anyhow, they just were birthed last night.

All of the Malabars look perfect still, no contams, nice and white. However, no pins are visible. They are chilling right now in my fridge for a cold shock + dunk.

The Brasilians are a different story. Half were contammed enough that I would have normally threw them out, and the other half had a nice amount of invitro growing. They are in the terrarium right now seeing what happens.

So I guess one (one being myself) could make assumptions between these two strains. They saw the same horrible conditions, etc.

I'll post a growlog with this information once I start seeing some mushies.

I dont know what you guys are talking abot with B= , maybe they were slow case it was your first time

I have grown for about a years(first casing recently, cakes before then), and am just trying b+ now and its SUPER QUICK!!!!!

Not only that I had some eq jars that didnt grow(which I know was my fault, the tape was put on RIGHT after "banging 1cc of hardcore spore " into ea ch jar.

Anyway, what did I do with the bunk jars?? throw them away??, NO I shot them up with B+ and now the are RACING ALONG!!!.
85f on the dot at all times makes a big difference
