So here's how the same jar is looking now, about 2 days later. Does everything seem to be right?

Pics are a little blurry, but it looks like healthy mycelium to me.

Yeah, sorry about the blurry pictures. I'll update with clearer ones when I see any changes.

Is it common for it to take this long before any visible growth? If not,any ideas on why it took this long?

^didnt you knock it up twice? Did you shake the syringe? How much did you use per jar?

Yup, did it twice. Shook the syringe and used ~1 mL per jar

Possibly. I also steam sterilized because I don't have a pressure cooker, so maybe that could somehow be responsible. However, this morning there seems to be a new issue. I woke up and noticed this yellow/brownish discoloration in the mycelium.

What could be causing this, and is there any way to go about fixing it?

No way to fix it, that's the beginning of what looks to be a bad contamination. You can wait it out or toss but I'm telling you now it's most likely garbage can tek time.

yeah that's toast. and its not because of the lack of PC, brf cakes are steam sterilized in a normal pot for 90mins. www.mushroomvideos.com just do exactly what he does and if that fails upload pics for confirmation to go ahead and blame the syringe!
