The brugmansia sanguniea seeds I sowed on 11/17 sprouted while I was away this weekend , so its only been like 10 days , which seems quick for brugmansia. I've got them a heating pad and on 24/7 lights

Very nice plants y'all have! Do you grow them only bc they look so great or also for consuming? I read that it can have pretty mean side effects, is that correct?

I grow them for the visual appeal and the aura they have. You can feel their plant spirit. Go out in the middle of summer under full moonlight and stand beside a brigmansia in full flower. You can hear them singing and see them dancing. Extremely fulfilling plant to grow.

I don't think anyone here is growing them to consume. Way too scary.
I stumbled across a fantastic specimen and was gifted with a few cuttings. Im Just waiting for the beautiful flowers. The coolest plant in my opinion.

Theres a HUGE Brugmansia that grows outside of my Post Office down the road, they recently cut it down to the stumps. Im assuming they do this every year and itll grow back, but when it does I wanna take a cutting to root at home, wheres one of the better places to take a cutting from?

Yea it matters where you cut. Below the branching is considered to be be vegetive growth. And a cutting from above the branching is in flower so. If I understand it correctly the veg growth takes awhile longer to create its branch then it will flower. The cuttings taken from the top will branch and flower sooner. I put a link to a great website.

Transplanted to a 25 gallon smart pot with my secret organic grow medium. Also switched to 18 hours with a metal halide. It seems happy.

Nope no coir. Although it could use some!!
It could use more perlite for sure. I started the soil out doors last July. Actually a few years ago it was a cyan bed. All the wood chips decomposed. Then over time coffee grounds were added.
Perlite, black sand, blood meal bone meal, lime, high phos bat guano and regular guano from last years grow added at the correct grow times. Lots of different teas over time mostly ewc, molasses and guano's. Rock phosphate, azomite, feather meal, fish meal, kelp, growth regulators were added last summer made from sprouted corn that Was blended and strained.. I'm probably forgetting a few things. Prolly some verm made it in from spent casings. Lots of spore wash from active edible etc.
The neat thing is you really can't "burn" with organics. I've had sample plants with waay too much blood meal, guano, rock phosphate etc. some stunt then eventually catch up or with different nitrogen's. You get super green yet slightly different in color.
Edit: almost forgot all kinds of compost over a few years for my garden some 16 16 16 several years before I went organic. Some steer manure and when I payed my yard I had a dump truck load of mushroom compost delivered. Years back though.

Damn. Didnt take next to npthing to get thay secret out of you. You would not make it in... Cia, gang, any other secret society situation.
But thanks. Seems like a really great soil. Very rich for some very 'special' situations. Gotta try a brug grow now.

I've noticed a lot of little bugs the last few weeks flying around. Not a lot but I noticed them. My other friends who have mj grows all have gnat strips and fly strips hanging or they use all kinds of spray etc.. The last few days I realized my grow room is naturally regulated by my Brugmansi. Now that it is healthy and has giant leafs all the little flying buggers are dying and accumulating on the leafs!! I had a jumping spider that hung around and it seems to have vanished as well. I just had an idea that I can make an organic bug spray from a concentrated brug leaf concoction. I'm excite!!
Although my feeling is that I don't need the spray because I have a healthy brug in the corner keeping the critters at a minimum. Gonna try some experiments though.

Out of 8 seeds I've only got 2 seedlings pop up. I can't remember if I peeled the outer layer on them or not. I did with some but not others to see what worked. Do you guys have any advice for growing these from seed?

ive studied how to cross breed and create new varieties. However I'm not sure of a proper way to sow them. Let us know what works. Hopefully someone else chimes in. Feels like I'm talking to myself sometimes.
Id imagine a wet paper towel in the cabinet transferred to a nice grow medium kept in a warm environment should work.

Out of the 20 B.Sanguniea seeds planted only 2 survived into seedlings but later died when I wasn't home to mist them.
I sowed in vermiculite/coco/pete/perlite on a heating mat -underneath Fluro bulbs.
Going to try again later today -well maybe not because I should Probually soak them for atleast 12 hours.
I've never germinated anything in the paper towel but many people swear by it when germinating cannabis.
I've got 2 sandwhich bags full of seed from a yellowXwhite brug -let me know if anybody wants some to try.. To grow

Nice is that really a datura? Or is it just mislabeled? I need to post some updated pics. Gonna wait till the lamps turn on at 11 tonight. After flipping the room to bloom 12/12 the brug just shot tons of fat 4 inch plus shoots out all over the trunk. I picked up some cloning supplies, I'm very excited to get a few cuttings!!!!
