You do realize that longer wait times in Canada vs the US is skewed due to the fact that a large portion of poor people in the US won't even go to the doctor for check ups or followups (let alone fill prescriptions) because it costs them money to do so. It is simple if more people can afford to use a system they will.............
Are you in favor of disenfranchising poor people from health service then?

Of course he is. They hate poor people, because they're lazy slobs.
However, you are correct, and wait times in these countries are based on how time-critical their medical needs are. Canadians wouldn't trade their system for ours. They wouldn't even consider it for one second! lol

Your last sentence is an often overlooked point for these short sighted dunces.
In any of these modern nations with socialized medicine, there is not a 50/50 (or anything close to it) debate whether to privatize it. If these programs were so inadequate and unpopular, there would at least be a debate happening somewhere.
But there isn't.

The figure I found was like 90% of Canadians prefer their system over the U.S.
Also wait times for emergency treatment are non-existent. For specialists it averages a month and most people get in before three months.
When I had to see a specialist for my neck I waited over a month. When I got in to see a therapist I waited over a month. The wait times seem pretty similar to me.

The American media plays the 'false equivalency' game 24/7. Just because there are two sides to an argument, doesn't mean that both sides are equal. We can't get anywhere in this country because there's not legitimate public debate. Thankfully the internet permits some level of public discussion. However, they're trying to kill net neutrality, and they've dooped some people into thinking that's the right way to go!
We have guys like Bill O'Reilly who bring someone on for 5 minutes, let them talk for 30 seconds of that time, and cut them off the whole time, only to take the last word. Chris Matthews does the same shit. They all do, and it is despicable. No wonder people are so confused. A lot of the things they talk about take a couple hours of level headed debate to really hash out. Not 5 minute soundbites.

Unfortunately our culture is more interested in flinging mud and being right then communication and compromise.
Shit look how polorized this forum is. Can't even get a bunch of mushroom heads to talk without passive aggressive snipes or outright name calling.

Yep. It hasn't been that way for most of the time I've been here though, honestly. I have also taken part in the mud flinging, but I really can't help it anymore. Intellectual discussion has digressed into primitive mindless soundbite-esq stupidity since the 3 stooges showed up out of nowhere.
On a different note, have you heard of this Jeremy Corbyn guy over in the UK? He's fucking great!

I'm not sure if you guys saw, but Bernie had a "secret" meeting with Bill DeBlasio the other day. Take it for what you will, but an endorsement from the mayor of NYC would be pretty huge.

I honestly don't know anything about Bill DeBlasio.
I find it interesting that Biden hasn't jumped in yet, and supposedly he may not be jumping in til after the first debate. I think they've been putting him in the polls to see if it would hurt Bernie, and he's not getting in because they've discovered it would only hurt Hillary. I know it sounds conspiracy theorist, but I really think that's how these things operate.

He is a communist, raised money for Che Guevara in the 80's, his endorsement of BS will mean a lot to his supporters...

Bernie sanders claims to be opposed to corporate welfare, yet he voted for the GM bailout, is this more hypocrisy from BS? Will he continue his corporatetism if elected president?

The bailouts saved the economy. Unfortunately, we didn't follow through and break up the big banks, and the 'too big to fail companies'.

Like it or not, the bailouts did have a positive effect on the economy.
And Bernie is right for voting for the solution, but that doesn't mean he's advocating the problem existing in the first place.

How would one even quantify the bailouts having a "positive effect on the economy"? Or are you just speculating on this?

Dow index? Unemployment claims? All the typical metrics.
We know from history that austerity doesn't work, and stimulus does. Its pretty widely accepted by everyone who doesn't directly benefit from austerity.

As much as I want the banks broken up, Glass Steagall reinstated, a Wall St transaction tax, and the kitchen sink, we couldn't just let the institutions holding all our nation's capital crumble.
