That's a laugh considering the self-described "greatest jobs president god ever created" employs thousands in Chinese factories making shit for him that if he had integrity would be made here. :ohwell:

Agree 100%.  Trump has many qualities that we could admire, but I don't see integrity as being one of them.  Read "The Art of The Deal" as it is a celebration of the art of lying and deception to get what you want.

KO, how do you propose kids living in poor states have the same opportunities kids in rich states get without federal aid?  Or am I misunderstanding your position?

It would have to be a Bernie/Trump ticket to get my vote. They'd probably just murder Bernie so Trump would take the win anyway...

I like this approach, honestly. My only concern is allowing states like Kansas and Texas to be in charge of education. They'll start teaching Bible classes in Texas, and Kansas will get rid of schooling altogether!

What to do about all the nonsense that children are taught is perhaps one of the biggest challenges on the planet. Freedom means the freedom to brainwash your kids into the same belief system you, as a child, were likely brainwashed into. The afterlife salvation cults continue to spread the virus of their obedience training to the masses that prepares them to loyally push militant nationalism.  It's a real shame so many children on this planet are doomed to a life of limited real opportunity because their parents are hopelessly clueless.

No easy solution to that one.

The key point here is that its the freedom to teach your children whatever bullshit fairytail nonsense you like. Not my children. I think federal courts may be able to prevent this still. The problem with a state like Kansas is that Brownback would get rid of public schools and give the money to his wealthy buddies, in trueRepublican fashion.

You and I see this similarly.  I'm 100% convinced that in 150 years, the afterlife salvation cults will be outlawed on this planet and good riddance.  They are like a virus that has plagued humanity for centuries.  The nonsense that perpetuates ignorance on our planet is, to a large extent, responsible for many of the macro problems that consume so much resources that solving local problems becomes very difficult.  How much global time, attention and money have the afterlife cult fanatics consumed just in the last 50 years?

KO, poor schools are generally more crowded, have fewer staff, fewer teaching materials, and fewer extra curricular activities.

I mostly agree with the rest of what you said but adult education starts as early childhood education. I also see many of the problems you mentioned as mental health issues.  Something we can tackle via appropriate health care, education, and awareness (as contrasted by our current stigma towards mental illness).

How do we allocate more of the resources of our nation to education, better health care for the mentally ill the building of our infrastructure that will give America true energy, manufacturing and food INDEPENDENCE???    We are now using ENORMOUS resources to fight religious and energy resources wars.  And what is left is being harvested by a tiny, tiny fraction of humans through a predatory capitalism system that gives them LEGAL authority to extract the wealth and profits at levels that are so ridiculously unsustainable and the blowback is poverty and lack of resources for very basic problems like education, health creating food and the proper health care system to lift millions and millions out of addiction.

We need very fundamental change and must wrestle our democracy away from the uber wealth class that now employs the political class.  BTW, I think Bernie gets this at a more fundamental level than anyone else in the race.

Agreed. Part of Trumps platform is to quote, "Rebuild our military". Its his biggest applause line, in fact. Republicans are so fucking stupid. At this point, I don't see any reason Democrats should not be partisan. That kind of rhetoric is flat out plain and simple clear stupidity. Our military needs downsizing if anything.

We could do great things in this country if we spent our money more wisely. Stop supporting Israel, stop fighting wars of aggression, stop global conquest. Bring that money home, and build a strong and solid America, instead of spending a trillion dollars on a fighter jet that doesnt work, or building a 40 million dollar building that we know we wont be using, because the troops have already left 6 months before construction was completed by the British company we employed to build it, and will most likely pay to demolish it.

That's what Bernie wants to do. He may not be able to accomplish everything on his to-do list, which is he nature of checks and balances, but there is much a president CAN do, and I'd rather he be the one putting pen to paper, and vetoing Republican madness than anyone else, because you know damn good and well he will do it.

I agree that the US has become an oligarchy and that it's going to be hard to promote economic equality until we change that.  I also agree that food and energy independence are important investments for our future.  I believe that education is a road towards all of this.

A better educated country would give us a larger pool of scientists and engineers to work on these problems.  A better educated country would also combat much of the religious and political ignorance  as well as scientific ignorance of climate change and the benefits of GMOs.  Again this would encourage more young people to look at these issues, become passionate about them, and pursue these problems as a career choice rather than sticking their fingers in their ears and pretending these issues aren't important or don't exist.

I think your teachers education program is a good idea but I also believe that there's states in the union that have been extremely poor since the civil war and that the education levels in these states has suffered because of it and that in turn all of us suffer because of it.  Improving the quality of teachers would be great but I think these schools also need funding for materials just to bring them up to some kind of national standard.

And yeah, I agree on Bernie and I'm a pacifist both politically and privately.  So I'm all for ending wars (imperial terrorism, whatever you want to call it) and focusing on our own country.

MAJOR downsizing.  25% cut in funding at least.

Let's look at another big Trump applause line.  Take our military to claim many of Iraq's oil fields and "we" take the profits and distribute that to our vets. How exactly do "we" do this?  It sounds like the promises of a Viking King, promising a huge rape and pillage event in exchange for power.  So, after we push ISIS away from their oil fields, which they'll probably blow up, then who gets the oil flowing again?  American companies?  Or does the government hire oil people to get the oil?  Will these oil companies just give up these profits to the Iraq Veterans so easily?

Seriously, Trump and his followers don't think the shit through.  Trump's a master at creating these populist slogans and republicans LOVE slogans and demand very little in terms of fine print on how to make them happen.

You mean if he was stupid. Competing with cheap Chinese labor is impossible so rather than swim upstream and lose his ass, he did the smart thing.

"rebuilding the military" might mean making it so we need fewer people and use more robotics. You guys hero obumble has used the military more than any previous pres since the Vietnam war and run it into the ground. We may need to defend ourselves and our allies against the Chinese and Russians. If the bats had their way we would be disarmed.

Is this an ironic post?  Obama has been rebuilding our military.  In fact he is using more robotics.

I don't think anyone in this thread is an Obama fan.  Ad hominem strawman fail?

  Your political instincts are infantile.

There is no conceivable possibility that Trump and Sanders would join forces and join the same ticket.  It is utterly ludicrous.  They are complete and total opposites.

Trump is for increases in military size and spending, Bernie's against it
Trump is NOW against universal health care, Bernie is for it

Tax cuts for the wealthiest
Inheritance laws that tie up billions in the economy
Another Iraq ground invasion
Needless foreign aid
Outrageous military spending
A health care system that rewards giant financial corporations

I honestly dont give 2 shits one way or another about GMO labeling, and I dont think it would have the impact that ppl say it will. Americans dont really give a fuck whats in their food. They eat pink slime like its fillet mignon.

If thats the only thing you disagree with a candidate on, consider yourself fucking lucky!
