Not true, see quote and link below. That is how you are supposed to debate, you give evidence and links, not just run your mouth which is your standard practice, you actually show facts

https://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/R41347.pdf
The United States was once self-reliant in domestically produced
REEs, but over the past 15 years has become 100% reliant on imports, primarily from China,
because of lower-cost operations.

As you see, its because china's prices are lower, otherwise we would just mine our own or buy from somewhere else. You failed once again.

>They have more control of rare earth's than OPEC does of oil, you fool.  You can set up a factory to manufacture iPhones in texas if you want, but if you can't get the rare earths from China, you're screwed

Once again, not true, more of your bluster and false facts.

"China controls about 95% of global rare earths production, and holds half the world's reserves of these metals, according to U.S. think tank National Center for Policy Analysis.
For years, China controlled the export of rare earths, and instituted export tariffs as a way to boost its own industry and prevent depletion of natural resources. In 2010, Beijing abruptly reduced its export quota, pushing prices sky high and creating supply disruptions around the globe."  -- CNN

http://money.cnn.com/2015/06/05/investing/molycorp-china-rare-earth-minerals/

Sorry bud, once again you're in over your head.  Rare Earth's are ground zero for China's long term manufacturing strategy of high tech electronics.

"But THEN the rare earths pricing bubble burst as new supply sources came online, and manufactures replaced rare earths with substitute materials"

Rare earths are and will remain as essential to high tech electronics as oil is to energy production.  That is not going to change anytime soon.  Will some replacement technologies pop up here and there?  Probably, but it's going to take a long, long time before rare earths are not at the absolute epicenter of what's needed for smart phones, computers, servers, clean energy turbines, etc.

>China "floods" the market because they control 95% of the global production.

Simply because their production costs are much lower due to... wait for it... LOWER LABOR COSTS duh! most people could figure that out for themselves. But not the big fish. He keeps spouting opinions and disregards facts.

>In an employees-only section of the store, management has placed two bins underneath a sign reading, “Please donate food items here so Associates in Need can enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner,” local paper The Plain Dealer reported on Monday. Walmart spokesperson Kory Lundberg told the newspaper that it is for employees “who have had some hardships come up.”

So you fault them for trying to help those of their employees who are having hardships? In what way does that show the majority of wm employees are on food stamps?

WM pays competitive wages and must do so to fill its positions and not have excessive turnover. WM people stay on the job a long time because of the many benefits. Macdonalds, other fast food outlets, amazon, most service positions like cashiers, stock people, etc get about the same. Why single out wm? You should turn your ire to the many illegals we have here thanks to obumble. Trump is going to change that radically, you should be supporting him if you are worried about bottom of the rung workers not being paid enough. Dry up the labor pool a little and like magic, wages shoot up.

Do some research and find out where the global proven reserves are and who controls them before you spout off nonsense.  Of course production costs matter, that  matters with everything ... anyone knows that. But China controls the OWNERSHIP of the resources.  We already removed the easy to find stuff from US soil so of course our production costs are much higher.

Fact remains, China's high tech manufacturing strategy revolves around control of rare earth's global reserves much the way our global energy strategy revolved around controlling the oil producing nations going back 100 years.

Wall Mart and everything it represents including cheap shitty products, globalism to the extreme, exploiting near slave labor markets, thousands of minimum wage employees, destroying local businesses and communities, zombie like work environment, and a race to the bottom in terms of quality, pricing and wages is at the heart of why the middle class has been essentially destroyed by the corporate wealth class that has no interest at all in the overall health of the nation ... their concerns about quarterly profits and predatory exploitation of global poverty gets in the way of them thinking that you need financially healthy customers and communities to sustain long term growth.

Throughout the middle of the last century GM was the largest employer in the U.S.  Today it's Wal-Mart.

The largest employer going from a focus on manufacturing to one on consumption says something about the state of the country today.

Like it or not, Wal-Mart is an important part of this conversation.

Right.

I've been more critical on more specific issues about Obama than anyone on this thread ... by far.  Specifically:

1) He lied about taking public funds in the 2008 campaign against McCain
2) Appointed Geithner, Jordan, Summers and Bernanke to his economic "team"
3) Upped the troop count in Afghanistan
4) Did a horrible job of managing the 800 billion dollar stimulus his first year
5) Obamacare was mostly a giveaway to insurance companies
6) Avoided going to congress for declaration of war in Libya, Syria, Yemen, Iraq II others
7) Lack of coherent drone bombing policy
8) Expanded the domestic surveillance programs
9) Kept the insane war on drugs going and hasn't taken Marijuana off schedule 1 status
10) Takes huge amounts of money from banks
11) Continues the traditions of ass kissing the Saudis
12) Didn't eliminate the Bush tax cuts fast enough
13) Rollout of Obamacare was an inept disaster
14) Didn't prosecute Bush/Cheney for lying about Iraq intelligence
15) Has done virtually nothing to improve education
16) Has done virtually nothing to improve America's crumbling infrastructure
17) Has made race relations much worse with his stupid comments on Trayvon, Michael Brown, others
18) Should have declined the Nobel Peace Prize
19) Hasn't made a serious attempt to balance a budget yet
20) Pushes globalism with more global trade deals (TPP, Colombia, etc.)
21) Has been an inept pussy in dealing with our immigration crisis leaving until before the 2016 election as a political ploy
22) Should have pardoned both Snowden and Assange
23) Should have pushed for a transparent audit of the Federal Reserve

So sure, go ahead, keep parroting your utter nonsense than I'm an Obama fanboy.  You and your bro have very few specific criticisms of Obama, just a lot of name calling and general statements that he's destroying America. I spell it out.

So the fact the American consumer demands and buys cheap Chinese crap is the fault of walmart? Not a word about the thousands of other vendors in usa from amazon, to ebay and many smaller ones in between who do the same thing? You criticize wm for paying min wage yet most of their people get more than that. You want them to shut down, is that your solution to our woes? Your lack of comprehension of basic economics is breathtaking.

Still no link to a law, any law, saying a company must pay income tax in states it does not have a presence in if employees travel there? You better fire that accountant and your big shot lawyer too if they can't find the answer for you. You paid tax to 21 states and have no idea why? LOL

Better get to work giving speeches, autographing books for your many fans, reviewing contracts, and all the other big shot stuff you claim to do. Spending all day on a message board does not make you look truthful about that.

No doubt you will go into another fit of anger and make more childish insults now. How old are you, 19?

LOL ... It just kills the two of you that I'm not an Obama supporter at all and I'm not a moocher looking for freebies from the government.  You keep trying to put that across.  But over and over it's simply ... a swing and a miss.

And you two are what you are ... a big talking wuss that doesn't have the courage to put his money where his over reaching mouth is ... You claim to be a business guy and you give up a risk free way to make $5,000 or more ... LMAO.  The number of PM's I've gotten from people I don't even know about what cowardly clowns you two are has been ... PRICELESS!!!

We are supposed to believe that after all the lies you were caught in? Your little bluff bet fell apart like the rest of your story. I suggested putting money up front to show you are a big shot like you claim but of course you can't do that. You wanted lds to put in his time and money on your promise to pay later. Even if he did, you would just bluff some more claiming to be someone you are not. We contact the real person, he says hell no I'm not that clown on shroomery, and you make another story. Ho hum.

Put up some cash of your own instead of just talking about it and you will have a degree of credibility. So far you have none.

I've offered 20 times at least top to put cash up to a third party of  YOUR choosing.  YOUR attorney.  Why an Attorney?  Because they are legally bound to conduct the transaction legally and fairly and, frankly you or your bud aren't.  That's often why we use attorneys for financial transactions, escrow accounts, etc.  I'll wire money to an attorney today if I can verify he's for real and get you two clowns to sign off on the bet, but you don't have the guts.  I even offer to pay all the attorney's fees and you're in some clownish sidetrack suggesting I send my money directly to you like a email from a Nigerian Aunt scam on the internet. LMAO.  You don't even trust your own attorney to get the facts straight and make a decision.  Seriously, I'm beginning to think you're a 17 year old kid in your room thumping our trolling comments.

Anyway, keep up your childish cowardly dodging of a chance to put your money where your mouth is because the PM's I'm getting from people laughing at you are priceless..

>Stonehenge is the one that brought it back up, by the way.

I'm not going to let his baloney pass unquestioned. He still has not been able to link to the law he claims that says companies must pay income tax in states they do not have a presence. That alone shows he is full of hot air and nothing else. He refuses to put up any money and expects people to take his word for it.

It figures you would swallow it down without a murmur simply because he is a fellow leftist. We are still waiting for that position paper on Bernie that you tell us exists. If you've seen it, post it. If not, then how come you tell us all these things about him?

We've seen trumps manifesto, but Bernie is shy and not one out of all his advocates can come up with it.

big fish
>I'll wire money to an attorney today if I can verify he's for real

Now you are talking

>and get you two clowns to sign off on the bet

But you throw in more baloney. How is anyone going to "sign off" on it? And you want both knowing lds said no? More hot air out of the hot air machine. If I give you the name of a lawyer, you will send money and work out the rest of the details later? That would be showing some credibility but we all know you won't. All talk and no cash.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

Accurate and timely data on Wal-Mart’s wage and employment practices is not always readily available. However, occasional releases of demographic data from public assistance programs can provide useful windows into the scope of taxpayer subsidization of Wal-Mart. After analyzing data released by Wi
sconsin’s Medicaid program, the Democratic staff of the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce estimates that a single 300-person Wal-Mart Supercenter store in Wisconsin likely costs taxpayers at least $904,542 per year and could cost taxpayersup to $1,744,590 per year – about $5,815 per employee

Excellent link and shows what anyone with a brain already knows.  That companies like Walmart shift the burden of actually providing a living wage for their employees over to taxpayers.  Their whole strategy for keeping prices and costs so low fundamentally has at its core that the government will pick up the slack in helping their low wage employees survive.

What a legacy.  How can any corporate CEO take down a 30 million dollar pay package and sleep at night knowing his compensation is made possible by employees that need government assistance just to survive?  What a low, malignant piece of human slime you have to be to do that job.

There frankly is no example of the evils of globalism more obvious and outrageous than Walmart. They have single handedly led the charge of predatory capitalism to generate massive profits for a tiny few at the top while thousands and thousand of their employees working full time live deep in the poverty zone.  Walmart is the poster child for what went wrong with predatory capitalism.

"The universe is endless, limitless and infinite.  Any effort to define it's boundaries is an attempt to overcome ignorance.  We are physical, mental and spiritual beings ... there is no beginning and there is no end.  There is only memory.  Our repeated loss of memory experiences create the illusion of beginnings and ends.  Immortality is the ability to retain full memory through all consciousness transformations.  Loss of memory is man's greatest curse and, in very real terms, death."
