Hi guys, Got next three pay checks that would hit savings otherwise probably 60% worth. [100% value into suit or 60% into savings and other] I've got work, social encounters and aspirations, I was wondering what you guys think of spending more then 2000$ on a suit, My first suit was worth about 700.

I wouldn't buy a suit that is worth that much of your income. Buy one that is between $2000 and the price of your last one. Save the $2000 purchase for your next big career move when you have more money. I'm sure you look sharp enough in a $700 one anyway.

True true, you being from Ontario and me having just read the globe and mail all about the parties the only coverage green party got was a picture with a sentence. I'm thinking of crusading the election on my website with just reporting some key note opinions of the parties, foe example, NDP: decriminalization Liberal: legalheizit Conservative: give money to combat grow ops andassemble mental health organization for parents that think their children have substance abuse.
That sort of thing, I've been wanting to do some local journalism and knowledge I have picked up business books and been taking notes, pictures and gathering info, I've got the bug in ear about a more affordable suit those guidelines could still yield something sharp.

I'll be frank: If it takes you three paychecks to pay for a 2k suit, you aren't in the type of profession that requires one.
In that range, you should be considering something bespoke (i.e., custom tailored from scratch).
Here is what you should ask yourself: As you go about your day-to-day affairs, can you tell when a man is wearing a 2k suit? I'd advise you to try on a number of different suits and brands then find a good tailor. I'd guess that neither you nor the people you interact with can tell the difference.

I got a very nice grey three piece with a matching fedora for ten bucks at a goodwill. I've never found anything else that nice, but think about it, people don't work in suits so a used one might as well be new. Save your money and be rich instead of trying to look rich.

$2000 for a suit? If you already have a hefty savings and a steady income, and this is something that would make you happy, knock yourself out. I hardly wear suits, so take my opinion as you will, but for whatever it's worth, I'd feel impractical spending half that much on a suit. Every suit I've purchased has been $400-$600, and so far as I can tell, they work just fine. I'm under the impression that a designer name or a fancy liner fabric (i.e. nothing that materially affects the way most people see you when you wear the thing) is what constitutes the majority of the expense in a high priced suit. I will however, readily admit that I am not a suit aficionado, and I do understand the desire to feel good about the way you look.

Yeah, as a philosophic consideration, I convey this as frivolous. However, I have met my adult mass, put nearly 15000$ in the bank this year earned a raise over the past 3-4 years of 30-50% from minimum wage to conditional $3~6.50$/hour I can expect nearly 4k in the next 2.5 months. In truth its nearly 3400$CAD for a designer suit. The information and opinions granted in this thread leaves me the OP, considering putting a suit on the back burner for now and considering an even lower budget public identity. Low-key as the world turns. Flip side of the philosophic coin: I have a second untapped stream of income which is my hobby and passion, Art I've been designing and making doodles my thing and absorbing my communities wants for an artist, I have even if I sold each piece of art work for 100$ only nearly 50 complete/semi complete. I have also the desire to build a company online, and I would have thought as Geo says the image delegated to expensive suit can disguise. That also someone who recognized the value may discriminate/ think that person is an imbecile. One more thing just trying to keep with the times, I long ago saved around 1500$ took it cash with the intent to buy designer stuff, and was surprised at how far it wouldn't go in a designer brand, it was eye opening, though the man selling denim in the Toronto Burberry, York mall, brought some pairs of jeans, he discounted the price and took an interest in the persona I was attempting to secure, I left that store with 350$ designer jeans, which have been through work, tough and fun times, and have stayed structurally intact while wearing these pants 3-4times as much as even a levi's or a walmart brand they arent nearly as worn, possibly due to engineered material century's of fabrication or care while wearing to protect investment. Regardless, diligence with your physique and articles of clothing can mean long lasting returns. Hence why I think its oaky dokey to blow doe on designer clothes yo.

^This. Go to the Salvation Army or a local thrift store. They'll have rows upon rows of used suits. Buy 10 or 15 of them for $100 and call it a day.
