All American 75X Electric sterilizer question

I have always used presto canners but I bought a 75X all American sterilizer and I filled up and ran it for an hour and NO visible steam came out of the control valve. It hissed like there was steam but nothing visible like a canner. Anybody with any experience on this???

no toggle weight. All the manual says I when steam comes out then close the control valve. I couldn't see this sterilizer taking over an hour to build up steam, the presto canners only take 20-30 to start steaming.

Sterilizers don't leak steam. They're essentially a sealed system once you close the stopcock valve. It may make a little house here and there but it should run pretty silently and it should lose VERY little water
Read the manual

How much water did you put in it? It's a huge sterilizer and has to be way bigger than any presto. It's going to take awhile to get warned up. If it was hissing, it was predicting steam. You might not visible see steam but you will hear it and feel it. Was the tube that comes down from the lid under water?
