I assume you're in the Northeast US? They are most likely A. muscaria var. guessowii.

In that case, I'm tempted to call it A. muscaria var. flavivolvata, but the yellow orange color is unusual. Were they sunbleached?

Also can you post a closeup of the one with the intact bulbous base?

Try to find more and carefully extract the stem base. The muscaroid Amanitas have concentric rings around the base that are important for identification and washing them often removes them.

We need those pictures of the base to make any confident id. If you want to get fucked up later this week you'd better get out and there.

I think it's likely that these are in the Amanita gemmata species group.

Yes, they contain the psychoactive drugs ibotenic acid and muscimol (and a very small amount of the deadly mycotoxin muscarine). They are more likely to make you feel sick than high. If you do try them, they need to be fried or dried thoroughly to convert the ibotenic acid to muscimol. Don't try more than a half cap for the first time.

I'd advise against consuming them. If you take enough to get "fucked up" they will definitely make you feel like you have a bad case of the flu. Alcohol is a much more pleasant intoxicant.

Me too. These kind of things are best tried when someone with experience is present.
