My eyes suck and I think it's time to fix that. Is the total just eye exam+contacts or is there other doctor fees that I'm unaware of? What's the ballpark total to have contacts in my head?

Well I have insurance through work, and I still pay over $100. So I'm guessing like $300+ maybe?

Don't think contacts are covered by insurance. I wore them instead of glasses for a year but they always made my eyes feel dry and if I shut my eyes for even a minute they got so dry that I couldn't see and my eye was sticking to my eyelid and shit.
But I had to pay a lot of money for them, like 60$ a month or some shit. Looking at some sites now, it looks like the same price for 2 eyes of different strengths (what I have) still. So either my insurance didn't cover them or none does

My insurance covers either a pair of glasses every year or a years worth of contacts a year. But contacts are so damn expensive that even with insurance I have to pay $80-$100 out of pocket. Which isnt bad, but just goes to show how expensive they are

When I last got an eye exam with no insurance I think it was no more than $100. No idea about prices for contacts, there are probably some good deals online though.

contacts are alot cheaper off the internet, glasses too, all u need is the doctor to do the exam then get a copy of it and get all your shit off the interwebs.
anyways contacts are a pain in the ass, just buy you like 4 pair of the cheapest fucking glasses you can find, then you'll have spares, and clean ones when u don't feel like cleaning them, also helps to put them in a case at night so dust don't settle on them

I buy my glasses online from some chinese (shipping locations are in USA though) manufacturer, it's like 10-20$ for a legit pair of glasses that don't look half bad and I can buy like 5 pairs of. They are plastic but I can't really tell a difference between these and glass ones unless I do a side by side comparison. They are also really light so most don't have those annoying prongs sticking into your nose. Mine just have the frames shaped to fit over my nose like sunglasses would. They never fall off and are VERY comfortabe. I swapped to contacts because I broke 3 pairs of glass - glasses in about 6 months time and they were over 100$/pair
