Inocule, Are you identifying that as Stachybotrys? There are much worse molds out there. We all inhale Stachybotrys everyday. I wouldn't sweat it. It's kind of like peanut allergies. Only pussies die from peanut allergies and stachybotrys. Now staphylococcus on the other hand. That can be serious.

Not really, I'm not exactly an identifier of contams. I take a lot of measures to avoid seeing any if I can help it. Whatever the OP had growing, it was nasty as fuck and there's no harm in the cautious approach when stuff is ejecting spores into the air.

We should technically be this paranoid with like every mold if we're worried about mycotoxins, but we're not. Also those fruits are or would be still edible if they were mature.
All of the mycotoxin containing molds can be fatal with weakened immune systems while improperly handling. Here's a list of a limited amount of molds testing positive for mycotoxins, and what mycotoxin(s).

P.S. Trichoderma, aspergillus, penicillium, fusarium, lipstick mold, and a bunch of other common contaminants we see all the time metabolize and secrete mycotoxins, and can send the wrong person to the hospital. Read how many trichoderma cases there have been.
Pop culture has made black mold the worse looking because of its invasive nature on our homes. But in our hobby we have exposure to A LOT more toxic molds than just the black ones. We should really be cautious and careful with every mold, and not just the black ones.
Thanks for the info. Im always very careful with molds/contams but now i will be even moreso

once had black mold shit pop right into my face & I nearly lost consciousness a few minutes later (I lost my vision, muscle control and the person I was with sounded very far away) I couldn't do shit but wait, in that moment I didn't know if my vision would return or if I was just going to die right there.

Contams are either the number 1 or 2 reason why I like using bags instead of jars for grain spawn. Which jars I would hopefully catch a contam before it blew the f up. If I wad lucky I would get the jar outside and dump it out without a huge cloud of molds spores. Now with bags I just remove the tag identifying what it is and toss that mofo into the trash

Sounds like BS to me. Exactly what toxins cause blindness and paralysis after 2 seconds of airborne exposure? There are reports of exposure from people working in buildings filled with moldy grain with dust levels so high you can't even see your hand in front your face and the symptoms are nothing like that.

I just don't want OP to have to go through the work of scraping the shit out of his pants because he thinks he going to die now. I doubt he was planning on eating the cake, or putting it under his pillow at night, or anything else that necessitates the need for horror stories.
