cutting the San Pedro mother plant

I have a 2-4 year old mother plant, that has been cut a few times over the years. The pictures were taken today, to give you an idea of the cactus in question.

Im wondering if the plant would be ok with me cutting off one of its pups again, after so many cuttings have been taken. Also are they too skinny for it to even be worth it?
The plants energy has been divided into 3 columns, causing columns 1/3 the size they could be (theoretically). The other question, is will removing a column cause the remaining 2 columns to grow faster and larger?
Have at it

It would be perfectly ok. You eliminate 1 pup and energy from that one is divided into 2. Sorry my brain is a little slow now. But the other 2 would benefit. :slow:

I suggest cutting the plant down to a stump.
Gettinmore soil and pots.
Callous a bunch of cuttings, 6 ich to foot a long would be optimal although I've seen people who've gotten away with 2 inch cuttings for mass propagation. But now people have been using the plant hormone 6BAP to induce pupping. Plus those two inch cuttings root very slowly so is not reccomended , but since I assume your cactus has a good root system , you can cut as low as you'd like , just bee sure to leave areoles for it to pup from.
Then you'd have a garden full of Pedro.
I've rooted an etiolated bridgesii tip aprox 1'and a half inches and with the circumfrence of my pinky which is growing finally after about a year or more of trying to root.

thanks ferrel_human, thats pretty much what i expected.
also, jayZ morgan, i already have a garden full of san pedro! The aim isnt mass propagation, my main concern was if it will grow more pups from a 3rd level cutting stump.
I was going to cut the one all the way to the left with the scratches on it in the second picture.

you could rapidly breed by taking multiple sections, waiting for some to callous and planting.
