Is anyone else a fan of Weston's Ciders?
I particularly like Old Rosie. It's pretty different on draught compared to bottles (as the bottles are pasteurized and draught is unpasteurized) but both are good.
I don't live in the UK anymore, so I rarely get chance to drink it now.

Hmmm. Old Rosie. I'll have to remember that. Lady & I are going to a bar tomorrow night that's got like literally 300 beers to choose from, with 100-ish on tap. Many of which are international. They also have a ton of ciders so I'll have to keep my eye out for Old Rosie.

Not sure. I live in Eastern Europe so we have a very limited choice. Basically Strongbow, hugely expensive and not very good local "craft cider" or nothing (or "make your own", which I do) - we don't have Old Rosie here, but it may be available in other countries.

Right. Old Rosie undergoes malolactic fermentation, so it gives it a unique taste. A lot of other commercial UK cider is quite tasteless (for some people who don't like the taste of any alcoholic drinks but want to get drunk that's fine). Your special lady your lady friend may not find it to her taste. In that situation I'd recommend getting 1 Old Rosie plus 1 other and you can taste each other's.
Of the big 4 UK producers I'd rank them Westons > Thatcher's > Aspall's > Bulmer's.
with the first three quite close together and the 4th a bit behind. Note that the UK Bulmer's company (which makes e.g. Strongbow) is different to the now independent Irish Bulmer's company, whose main product is sold (in the UK at least) as Magner's - that's pretty good too.
Apart from those, basically any UK cider from a non-big-4 producer which is considered good enough to be imported to the USA or wherever you are, is going to be really good and should be given a try in preference to anything from the ranges of the above producers (with the exception of Old Rosie obv.)

You're mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries! LOL!
I love old thread bumps (and sometimes other bumps, lol)
I have put a shot of cinnamon schnapps or fireball into a pear or apple cider and it fucking rocks!

Glad this got bumped as I tried one of the tastiest ciders ever recently:

It's a smooth apple cider with berry juice added. It has blackberry raspberry and strawberry juice in it, so damn delicious and refreshing. Easily my new favorite cider when it comes to taste, it's pretty much carbonated juice with 5% alcohol Only 14g sugar though which isn't too bad for how sweet it tastes.
Another great non cider I tried recently are these:

Quote:
Brewed with Pale and Wheat malts, Cluster hops, and flavored with a blend of blackberries, elderberries and loganberries.
It's really smooth and light on the hops, with a great rich berry taste. Never thought I'd like wheat beer, but that stuff has a really nice balanced taste. Also quite refreshing.

Pear ciders need to catch on more, they have a much more vibrant taste compared to most apple ciders.
Just picked up another 6 pack of these:

100% pear with blackberry juice, these can be a tad too sweet for my tastes sometimes but they are delicious.

Let me know what you think
I wish Ace sold 6 packs of their unfiltered blood orange cider around here, that one is also incredible. Only seen it in big bottles and pub taps though:

Yup, too bad that they aren't more common. I've had some other decent orange ones but nothing nearly as good as the Ace cider. More ciders should be unfiltered.

I like 2 Towns generally. First tried their "Bad Apple" on draft in Ashland Oregon @ the Granite Tap House. Well concealed for a 10% dry cider!
Dry cider is where it's at for me. I usually make my own with some good quality AJ, a little extra sugar (usually in the form of honey) and some champagne yeast. Sometimes I'll add a little holiday style spice, a few cloves and a cinnamon stick or what have you.
Since I have a 2 year old around now, I'm not creating my own as much as I'd like... so in a pinch, I've found "Golden State" ciders here in California offer a very nice dry cider in tall boy cans that are highly quaffable.

I tend to stick with the "Mighty Dry" but they're all decent.

Very cool. I bought a kit to make cider but never quite followed thru on that project. I basically get pressed apple juice from a friend then just drank the juice.
