Let's talk ciders! * 1
    #22073831 - 08/10/15 09:20 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

I love me some craft beer, and I love my mead and wine but cider will always take the cake for me.

What is everyone's favorite ciders or cider brands?
Here is what I think of some ciders I've had.

Angry Orchard: These were my first ciders so they will always have a special place in my heart.
Their classic crisp apple is a very good go-to cider but their Cinnful apple is probably my favorite of theirs.
One thing I really like about Angry Orchard is their cellar series, which is more or less cider in bombers.
Iceman is amazing and might be my favorite cider and muse is a fun alternative to champagne.

Wood Chuck: Wood Chuck is probably my favorite cider maker.
Their normal amber is only alright but their gumption is unarguably my go-to cider, t
he granny apple is also just alright bu the summer seasonal is fantastic and tastes like candy.
I'm drinking their barrel reserved right now and I usually dislike bourbon aged cider but this one is really tart and super tasty.

Smith and Forge is another worthy mention, it tastes very fresh and clean to me and it's not a bad 6%.

Another worthy mention is Redds wicked apple,
I usually dislike Redds but I got these for for Forest and the 8.5% did not disapoint.

But my all time favorite cider has got to be Apple Strussle by Scrumpys cidery.
They are a small local cidery in my town but I swear this cider tastes like Strussle.
It's absolutly a desert cider and I'd never call it a go-to but it's fucking fantastic.

I'm not a big fan of Crispen or Longbow but someone should convince me otherwise.

I have enjoyed Samuel Smiths organic cider, Strongbow, Woodchuck, and Angry Orchard ciders.

I have not had many, had a few flavored ciders which were decent, a pear one that was very refreshing.

Redds is delicious, I almost have enough bottles to build another beer bottle garden bed, I litterally have hundreds of their bottles, I can't get enough.

Hard Cider is my preferred type of brewed beverage to enjoy.

Growers is the best one I've had that I can get around here. I don't like the flavoured ones.. Cider is supposed to taste like cider. Bought a blackberry one once, way too sweet and too much blackberry. I actually poured it down the drain.

I love ciders too!

My favorites are Hornbsy, Smith and Forge, and Strongbow.

Also, theres a local ciderery that makes this ginger cider. Holy crap, super good.

It called Ginger Ninja, best combo ever.

Never had Julian's, Growers, Samuel Smiths or Hornbsy where are they out of?

And if you like Redds that much TheNatureKid I might have to give them a second chance,
I just had this strawberry one once that really turned me off from them.

I make cider for a living. My favorite cider company is Tieton, everything they do is gold.
Other favorites are Finnriver, Atlas, Devoto, Reverend Nat's, Jk's - these are all great.

I cannot stand woodchuck or angry orchard, and esp redds apple. they are the coors and pabst of the cider world. I am a cider snob however. this is only my opinion

This is the best cider its brewed in my town in the fall and the apples are grown up on on blue hill and brewed like 1000ft away so its super fresh stuff and its actually redic cider like idk what the apple blend is or stuff but its really good but only so much of it is made for only a few months but its really good to bring to halloween or thanksgiving or falltime parties and activities! I like the dry and spiced best but they have a few.

I like wood chuck & I used to drink a kind of cider called K, but google tells me that it's not available in the US any more.

Redds apple is not a cider. Hence why it's called Redds apple ALE

Always thought they just called it apple ale to increase sales or something, explaines why I never liked them much.

I get Growers sometimes too (think it's from BC Sara?) First drink I ever really got hammered on in high school. Strongbow I'm not a fan of. I'd be interested to find an alcoholic cider that tastes like the dark-colored non-alcoholic cider they sell at the grocery store though, never had an alcoholic cider with the same kind of biting aftertaste.

Strongbow is a little different in the US than it is in Europe. The commercial market in the states caters to those who like a sweet fruity drink. Cider is supposed to be around 7% and much drier. Here, companies will ferment their juice all the way out to dryness (no more sugars left) and then will dilute it by pouring back in a lot of apple juice. which is why all the cider youre likely to see in stores tastes like carbonated juice

Woodchuck used to be my go to alcoholic beverage. Then I realized how much sugar is in those bitches.

I still grab them occasionally.

honestly the best thing is to find an apple tree and wait till fall, once the apples have fermented on the ground just pick them up and start eating.  Im not sure if its all the fresh air, or the holes from the worms, but something really brings out the cider flavor
