Gymnopilus - Best way to identify?

I keep finding large orangish mushrooms in the woods with orange/rusty spore prints.
I keep reading though that Gyms are very easily confused with Galerina and Pholiota, some of which are poison. Some things that I am reading online say a microscope is required.
In addition at mushroomexpert.com, it says: "Identifying the species of Gymnopilus, in North America anyway, cannot yet be done with scientific accuracy." So, even if I have a Gym, how do I know if it contains psilocybin? In addition, are there any poisonous gems that I need to be worried about?
Is this a Gem?

It has a orange/rusty colored spore print. I threw away the mushroom, and the spore print yesterday because I thought it was nothing. I know where several clusters of them are though in woods near my house.
Thanks for the help!

In addition, I realize that is a horrible picture, and doesn't show the spore print, gills, or stripe, so if that is required, I'll try to get some more tomorrow and post detailed pictures. Any clarification on the questions above would be most appreciated though.

Those aren't Gyms. The best way to identify them is to recognize their usually heavy rusty-brown spores (check the tops of lower caps in a cluster; spores are basically dust) and to perform a taste test. Taste testing mushrooms is safe, so long as you only chew up a small bite, roll it around on your tongue, and then spit it out without swallowing. Gyms have a profound bitterness that will be totally obvious.

Some specimens of active Gyms will show green/blue bruising, but most do not. The fresher and smaller the mushroom, the more likely the bruising. Gym gills also fluoresce under UV light, but so do similar Hypholoma species. They usually won't appear to grow from the ground since they decompose rotting wood, but they can also grow from wood and roots that are buried under the soil.
