He says that the meat-eaters were healthier than the gatherers.

Hunter/gatherers is a term for the entire society. It's not like there were societies that only hunted, and ones that only gathered, the same tribe both gathered AND hunted. A purely meat-based diet is unhealthy, and so is a vegan diet. Combine both (perhaps decreasing the amount of meat we're used to eating, because an adult doesn't need as much meat as a child does) and you'll be fine.

Well, then, now I feel just plain silly. Ever since my college days, I've believed there was a society that ate meat, and a society that ate vegies. Sigh.

I don't think it's bad to eat meat, but I do think it's bad to raise life and keep it penned/caged, just to eventually slaughter it in its prime.

Animals are simple beings, and I mean, I guess it is all right for us to eat them as long as we need to... but we really don't have to make them suffer while they are still alive. I mean, it is true that we don't have so much land anymore to be able to let animals roam for miles and still feed all of these people, but we definitely don't have our food supply/demand system set up right.

I mean, a lot of people are starving, a lot of diets aren't balanced, and way too much meat is consumed.. if we were to consciously analyze what works and what doesn't, and find someway of bringing awareness to everyone, sort of massively change the system, we would definitely all be fed and would be healthy too....

Next time you see a cow, I suggest you give him a hug.
Peace.
