I met Nimoy at an amusement park when I was 13. He was AWFUL - even for a big fan. He tried singing and telling jokes and fell flat on both, and was not even in character.
Now we have to deal with a flaming George Takei. Is nothing sacred?

I can join your cult because I am fixated on a girl that's about 26 yo, which is half my age.

Dear Love Doctor,
She works in the office at my apartment complex and I see her every day when I go to the exercise room. She is super friendly but I feel looney hitting on a girl so young.
What should I do?

Wear 80's style tight spandex shorts so she can see how you feel about her.

Other than this thread I've seen no change in your overall posting style
And my penmanship remains unaltered...
Besides relationships with my family having changed for the better (how do you witness that in a forum?), I have been tackling many personal issues long avoided, both material and emotional.
I no longer hide out in TV, drugs or alcohol. I sold off my marijuana paraphernalia, grow lights, equipment and so forth. I am not a teetotaler or a reformed druggie, but I don't drink & toke out of self pity any more. Those things are now an adjunct rather than a staple.
My post count has dropped dramatically because I have more productive things to do.
In short, for the longest time I avoided living life - just killing time waiting for The Reaper, now I want to embrace what time I have left. If that is not a significant change then I do not know what would fit your criterion.
This encounter pulled me out of my complacency - kicking & screaming, mind you, but it took a powerful shock to effect such.
Well that certainly seems like a genuine change and I applaud you for that. Life is always worth something when we grow in these ways imo. To grow in compassion and empathy for yourself and for others, (and that's what you have done) is the only thing that makes facing the day to day horror of life tolerable imo.
I'm very glad indeed to hear this my friend. I'm sure you are happier for it even though the opening up is painful indeed.
If I had had your experience and and the subsequent changes I'd alter my current best guess about the meaning of this existence. I have not. However interestingly enough my experiences over the last two years have wrought the same changes in me to one degree or another. How interesting.

That's great that you're trying to live your life now. Waiting for the reaper gets boring after a while. You'll hopefully have plenty of time for that later. I work with hospice patients who literally can't do anything other than wait for death. Unable to do the most basic daily activities without assistance and drugged up to avoid the pain. idk where I'm going with this. Maybe you could come up with a point. I just wanted to post because every time I hear someone say "existential" I hear "exit stench all", which I believe would mean passing gas in a crowd, and then bailing, and leaving them to smell it. It certainly makes more intuitive sense to me than existentialism.

OP why dont u speak to the girl, if u were getting along fine, just say something in u exploded and u felt something strong for her, and now u feel sorry that u proposed to her... I mean i can understand why and how did u do it so soon but try convincing her that u are not that crazy

yanno Ram Dass used to do that, taught him a lot about compassion, how to take people's shit energy an just sit with it and hand em back good vibes
not an easy thing to do

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care. It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence. I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too. If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.
