Cannabis is a key to self reflection.

Sure, their are many various other use's for this wonderful vegetable but for me this is by far the most important one. I used to smoke it in copious amounts for "fun" not sure how I did that anymore. Nowadays when I partake I cogitate to the highest capacity & as a reward of completing the self reflection task I may then indulge myself with my favourite music or grab a pen & start writing or whatever. What a wonderful plant
Is the mass consensus here the same? if not please share what you personally believe to be the most important aspect of the Cannabis experience.
Peace

I, like yourself, used to think you can know yourself thru weed, but now I actually think pretty much the opposite. For me it's an awesome chill out thing. It enchances mind, makes stuff more enjoyable etc.
On the other hand, I get somehow locked in my counsciouss mind (ego-self). Don't get me wrong, it's awesome even for solving practical problems and in many other ways, but for me this definitely ain't self-reflection, but a tiny part of my individuum. We are so much more than our minds.

Exactly. Thought loop is not self-reflection and neither is paranoia, they are both weapons of the ego to keep status quo IMO. Saying this, it probably means that ego was repeled into a corner and is fighting back. Only you'd have to break those patterns to get somewhere, which I don't feel like doing at all when I'm stoned...

I would respectfully argue that the thought loop/paranoia is a by-product of being overwhelmed by the self reflection. I myself dealt with the same thing for a moderate duration, It took me awhile to train myself to surrender & gracefully accept it. You nailed it precisely when said "you need to break those patterns" to get past the ego's defense mechanism against the self cogitation/reflection.
Big thanks to you all for your replies thus far

Enhances music a lot for me. Since doing lsd, it's quite similar, makes bass sound great.

It really depends on the amount. Things get straight up psychedelic if you eat enough. I enjoy smoking it daily and don't notice too much tolerance. I also like to reflect daily and get into a "meditative" state while baked out of my mind.
Weed definitely will make you think about what you're doing in general. If you're being a shitty person it'll bite you. This is why it causes paranoia for a lot of people myself included sometimes.

An entire joint to the face and some soft music (or none at all) is the way to do it right after work. Ultimate meditation

I feel like we are basically saying the same thing here. I had to reconsider my 1st post thanks to Vsnares.Zappa.
without doubt weed can help weed can hurt
I insist on weed often shutting down emotions IME though. I prefer mushrooms for self-reflexion.

It can be a helpful tool for "self-reflection," but it can also be difficult to make any significant life-style changes when you're just smoking weed and "thinking" all the time. In my experience, it is only useful for self-reflection when used in moderation. Daily or habitual use makes me way less productive, which means that the "self-reflection" is ultimately wasted. I've always been a deep thinker and analyzer of everything even when sober, so these days I actually find cannabis more useful for clearing my mind rather than evoking thought.
