Good Day,
While I was out chanterelle hunting, I found the back plastic casing of an old tv. It was overgrown and full of moss, dirt, dead leaves and a baby tree. There were some chanterelles growing around the casing then I noticed there was one growing out of it. I was able to pull it out without disturbing its contents or the mushrooms growing around. It had settled into the forest floor.
What are the ways, if possible that I can allow the mycelium to continue to live and grow ? I was thinking to find a place on our property most similar to where I'd found it. Should I dig up the dirt a bit and sink it in? Is there a way that I could use this and have some chanterelles on my property~!
I really want to post pics but our connection right now is .3 mbps atm.

That's crazy. It almost looks like someone planted that there. If I were you I would use the specimen for agar and try growing from a culture if it was successful.

Hi Bluegill,
It's a sad fact that I find tires, computers, furniture etc..dumped in some places along the logging roads out in the forest amongst the mushrooms.
I think your idea about the agar is great but I don't have the equipment or experience, yet.
I carefully lifted some of the dead leaves and found some smaller chanterelles coming up underneath.
Perhaps I could leave it encased in the tv, and place it into a shallow dug hole somewhere similar to where I found it? Or would it be somehow "better" to take it out and again, dig out a shallow hole and place it in there?
I'm likely to try one or the other and see what happens.
