A damn good film it is indeed. Still can't work out which is my favourite though, Donnie Darko or Withnail & I. So different, they are hard to compare.

I read somewhere that Donnie is the archetype of jesus. Like the theme of the movie is he has a choice between saving himself/letting others die, or sacrificing himself for the good of others. There are quite a few other subtle clues in there too. Good movie.

I watched that movie the other night when I was tripping (I'd seen it MANY times before that).
Yeah...
I think the movie has so many plots/sub-plots that it is really impossible for any of us to know EXACTLY what he was thinking when he wrote the script.
But if you watch some of the special features the director hints around about the fact that ONE of the sub-plots has to do with Atheism versus Agnostiscism.
It also has alot to do with tangent universes.
GRRRRR!!!!!!!
I love that movie! Definitely in my top 3 just because of my own personal issues. I feel connected with what (I percieve) the director was trying to get across.
I ALWAYS advise people to watch it if they haven't.
That movie deserves smile 2.
Hell yeah.

It was good. But it was really made for younger folk as an Intro to really good, deep movies I think. Like other movies with deep confusing plots. Teens who watched Donnie Darko are probably the same people who'll grow up to watch Christopher Nolan movies, or Darren Aronofsky movies. And the 40+ year olds who watched Donnie Darko and found it very interesting, are probably just making a transition from stupid action films into thought provoking ones. Just a thought though.
