Would it be okay to use a 1:4 spawn ratio on my next monotub?

I've been told that using a 1:4 spawn ratio can work out just fine, and that it really only delays 100% colonization by a couple of days or so. For 650 grams of coir, 2 quarts of corse verm, and 1-2 cups of gypsum, I usually add 6-8 quarts of spawn. A 1:4 spawn ratio would mean me only adding 3-4 quarts of spawn to that tub. I'm just worried that the risk of contamination is going to go up, or that the potency of the final product is going to be affected. The idea of only having to use half the amount of spawn I've always used in the past is attractive to me. Does anyone here have experience with this? Should I be okay?

Slower colonization perhaps... Risk of contamination? Only if your spawn is ugly and no proper pasteruzuation of the sub
Reduced yield..? Nope My first 66qt mono I used 5-6 quarts of spawn A great wizard once used about 2 quarts of spawn for a mini mono
I hate to say that the wizard using less spawn, less surface area, but beast genetics Had me beat...

Clean spawn and good genetics is what you have to aim for in your mono's, don't worry about the amount of jars you use.The less time the mycelium spends fighting contams in the bulk sub, the more time it has to produce awesome fruits!

Clean spawn, check. Good genetis... The spawn I'll be using is G2G from an MS jar of WBS. Bottom of the barrel genetics, but they'll still work.

I just took these photos about one hour ago. They were shaken late Friday night, just before midnight.

Lots of sunflower seeds in those jars, I tend to avoid them, because they could be confused for contams. Either way, they look like pretty healthy spawn, just make sure to give them a good smell before spawning.

Those were the same jars from the previous pic. I plan on using two of these jars to do another G2G in a few more days, plus I've got several other jars from my original MS run that are almost fully colonized and will used as donor jars. I just hope I keep having this same success rate.
