Another 6 month old puppy died of parvo...
    #22063823 - 08/08/15 05:54 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

Today, my 6 month old puppy 'Cubes' died of parvo. 2nd time this has happened to me. It's heart wrenching but at least his suffering is over now...

Rest in peace my little one...

Sorry to hear that man, that's a horrible disease. Did they have the shots for it?

the good news is, parvo is completely avoidable so you never have to suffer through this loss ever again.

Did you not vaccine your dog?  2nd time is a little alarming as parvo should be easily preventable...

You're a prick for doing this to both of your dogs. Don't ever get another pet again. You don't deserve one.

You know, lots of people don't get their dog shots and their dog doesn't die. I understand the reaction, but you're also acting like this was inevitable. You don't know what his life is like and you can't expect your dog to die.

OP I'm sorry about your pup.

Yeah you can. If you live in an area with parvo, you have to get them vaccinated. It was inevitable, if he gets a third dog, and doesn't get it vaccinated, it too, will get parvo.

If you have one dog that dies from parvo, then you get another dog, without moving, and don't get it shots, you're a fucking asshole, or you're just retarded.

people in third world countries?

as far as i'm concerned, you shouldn't be allowed to own an animal if you dont get it the the common, recommended vaccinations.

Parvo is highly contagious and can live outside of a host for a long period of time. You basically can't let an unvaccinated dog get near the home or stuff of a dog that had it. It is in all practicality, inevitable the new dog will contract the virus.

Though it's not really surprising to me how many people don't know this. I only do because I have experience with it (not my own dog, but my uncle's, learned about it then).

That's about the only point that I've read that actually concludes something. The house was probably contaminated, but it also seems like there's an aweful lot of assumptions being made. You know how many dogs are out there that will get euthanized because it can't find a home? It would be one thing if he spent real money on a pure bred, which I can't assume one way or the other, but people can judge all they want because they weren't the one caring for it. So now, all those lives don't matter because they don't deserve to live unless the person willing to love it can't afford shots? Shit, the guy could have been saving, who knows? It just seems prett brash to jump on the guy while he's greiving without knowing anything conclusive that would make sense to do so aside from him not getting the dog shots and taking the time to realize a contagion can stick around.

Parvo stays in your yard and is contractable for a long time once it is there. Only way to prevent is to vaccine as soon as possible. Sorry to hear that.

i say this, to point out, theres something you need to do next time, nothing you can do about two animals dying, but im not going to abuse another human over mistakes which killed animals, its just mistakes.

i would suggest that the rest of you refrain from abusing another human over mistakes as well. we all make them.

now if you let a 3rd dog die then i'd have an issue with you, because you know better now, so if you cant afford or are otherwise unable to get a dog its shots, then dont get another dog.

You can buy the shot at many hardware stores for like $10, and administer it yourself for free.

If it means anything, I'm almost certain it's not that way where I am, except MAYBE at something like a Farm Supply, as well as parvo not being something I've ever even heard of a dog contracting even tough I have heard of it. Here you'd probably have to get an appointment, pay for the check up, whatever else they toss on, the fee to do it, plus the shot itself. It would probably be a few hundred to get done.

I'm not. It covers 7 vaccines too. Parvo, distemper, and 5 I don't remember. Still gotta pay for rabies though.

I looked it up and you can't buy pet vaccines here without a vet prescription.
