What is your favorite state or regional accent?

Some people like a Midwest accent, some like southern. Most people prefer a Louisiana accent, just a little bit of Cajun. In general new York accents are seen as the ugliest. Canadian accents are interesting. What is your favorite and least favorite?

I usually enjoy hearing any accent, I don't hate any really, I even think new york and boston accents are charming in their own way.
I like upperclass southern, like frank underwood from House of Cards, but I don't think I ever heard it in the wild.
The Baltimore (Balmer) accent is pretty horrendous.

What about English accents? Unlike Canadian there is a lot of variation.

There isn't really a single unified Canadian accent. The accents from Eastern Canada are pretty far off from everything else for example.

I love newfoundland accents, it reminds me of an Irish accent a bit, oddly enough.
As far as the states, I think most younger generations are getting to be very non-regional, with exception to the south. I think new jersey gets a bad rap, and most people are actually thinking of NY accents when they say NJ. I would say Clerks is the most accurate example of a typical accent in NJ. My parents are from there and sound non-regional, except for my mom who will sometimes let her vowels(particularly A's) slip when she's really mad.
Southern NJ sounds like Philly, which is NOTHING like the non-rhotic accents of new england and if anything sounds midatlantic and baltimore-ish, but most people sound non-regional, except for a few small quirks that usually go by unnoticed. Most people in Eastern PA in general, sound very Non-regional, including myself, but they tend to elongate their vowels(O's usually) but in a weird way. Western PA is all kinds of weird, and starts getting to be a bit Appalachian in sound.
As far as accents in the states that I like, I like some Southern Accents, for sure. Not all, but a decent amount. I also like mid-western accents, it helps that the people are usually kind and have a pretty "gentle/mild" way of speech.

I have the strongest southern accent you will ever hear. I personally love English accents though. While i'm busy marveling their accents, they are marveling mine. LOL
I'll actually post what I sound like if people point me in the right direction on a program to use.

What about Australian accents? They are fairly thick wouldn't you say? Doesn't anyone else think Louisiana accent is pretty? Most will say new York, jersey and especially Brooklyn accent sounds the worst. They sound like hoodlums.
Canada is like one big state with various cities.

Why do so many say the New York Accent is "Ugly" or the Ugliest accent in world? is true? also, why are many new yorkers blamed for being the rudest people in world?

I think this guy has a good representation of a Baltimore accent, but apparently he's from philly. Then again philly and Baltimore have similar accents, with Baltimore maybe having a bit more of a southern twang.

An upper class brittish accent sounds almost American. A lower class accent like a cockney dockworker sounds so rough its hard for us to understand.

The T's always give it away, when you get outside Philly people stop pronouncing water as wooder, but in SE PA O's aren't pronounced like "Oh" it almost sounds like an "oooh", that's the only way I can think to describe it.

Yes!!! That's exactly how I was trying to describe the pronunciation of O's in SE PA, I've never been able to adequately describe it. Definitely a weird mid-atlantic quirk.

Of Americans, a particularly strong southern accent.
I'm from the south, so it has to be pretty strong to not just sound "normal".

You'd be surprised, but in every state/territory in Australia, the accents do differ, quite a lot sometimes too.
I personally like the laid back slangy Victorian accent because it's within my lingo.
Of watching movies, the Southern American accent is so sexy on a girl for me.
Of the whole English First Langauge countries... nothing is better than a strong crisp Irish accent on a red/blonde haired Irish girl.. SO DAMN SEXY.

>But I do wonder why Germans say Wham-pire instead of Vampire. The have a goddamn V sound! they do!
If they read the word they are likely to say "fampire" because v is pronounced like f in german. They have a v sound but they use it for w. They don't really have a w sound, perhaps a dipthong with o like oampire.
I find Mexican and south American accents easy to understand.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835) Trade list http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18047755
