My faith (in my own ability to perform) G2G's has been restored! ***PICS***

I had always strayed away from G2G's. I believe I had tried it in the past once and not been successful. It's possible that I had horrible sterile technique, but I may have used a jar with hidden contaminants and just gotten unlucky. Who knows?
Well, I took a long hiatus from amateur mycology, but I'm back now, and I'm committed to doing things right this time. Here was my donor jar I made from an MS syringe back about a month ago, maybe a little longer:

I decided to follow TL's tek, but I found FH's write-up on G2G's to be quite informative, so I decided to take his advice into consideration too. Their write-ups can be found below. I have a lot of you all to thank too, I really appreciate your input, and I never would have been able to get to where I'm at without all the help. Thanks guys!
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17441645#17441645 http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17218710
Anyways, I tried to be as thorough and as sterile as possible. I really hate the idea of wasting materials, but I hate wasting my time and money even more. I performed the transfer from the donor jar to 11 receiving jars on 8/2/15, and I decided to wait a full five days before I peeked. Oh what a long five days it was, but it was well worth it.

Although people speak highly of G2G, I wasn't sure what to expect. I tried to find a timeline of G2G colonization, but I wasn't successful. When I pulled the plastic bag off of these jars, I was floored, not only were they all more than 50% colonized, some over 90%, but not one showed any signs of contamination, and the mycelium looked very healthy and robust. Sometimes in the past, my jars would take on a bit of pale white color when first colonizing. Even the donor jar in the pic above isn't as bright of a white color as I would like, and sometimes a pale milky color can indicate some kind of contamination (or so I've heard). Not these!!! The mycelium took on a very deep, pure white tone in every jar, and the growth appeared very vigorous in nature.

Here is what they looked like after a healthy whack on the bike tire. IME, it's usually another 5-7 days or so before they are fully colonized. Another thing I would like to add is that this was the first time that I decided to leave the sunflower seeds in the WBS. Usually I skim them off the top during the soak, but I've been told that the lignin can actually be beneficial to the mycelium. Since I find the removal process to be quite annoying, and they usually start to rot in my trash can after a few days, I made the decision that I would leave them in. I have to say that they really don't seem to have hampered growth in any way. Does anyone know if the mycelium can actually colonize them through the shell or not?
Anyways, I know this isn't a huge deal for all of you experienced guys out there, but for me, it's a huge sign that I'm making progress in this hobby and that I'm actually doing things right. I couldn't have done it without you guys, thanks! Here to happy futures...

About 36 hours later, here is the colonization progress on 7 of the 11 jars. They seem to be looking quite healthy, but definitely still recovering. I find it pretty interesting that you can visibly see the mycelium colonizing some of the sunflower seeds, especially in the vertical photo. Two things I did differently when I soaked this round of WBS: I didn't remove any of the sunflower seeds or floaters, and I decided to add a liter of coffee to the soak (not a liter of grounds, but a liter of liquid, freshly brewed coffee. Instant coffee would probably work just fine). Normally, I only add about two tablespoons of gypsum after I wash the WBS, but I remember that a lot of growers seemed to think that coffee was beneficial, so I decided to give it a go. I think I'll be adding coffee from now on.

Nice work. G2G is the shit and really you're only at the beginning. With good planning you can expand quite quick and clean with G2G. I have pushed the P value a lot further than 5 with no contams. Once you get good you can make a master culture live for months and have thousands of jars or more along the way. Nice going

Thanks! But what exactly do you mean by the "P value"?

Ok, cool! Yeah, I was told that because of senescence, 4-6 is kinda the limit, but at 5 expansions, one jar is becoming 100,000!

Naw that is for commercial edible strains that have already been pushed to the limit. I have done over a dozen expansions with no issues.

Here they all are two days later, and everyone one appears to be over 90% colonized. Three look like they are 100% ready. They have all made great progress since 8/2 and I'm really happy that I chose to give G2G another shot.

Oh, the beauty of full colonization! I was really surprised at how thick and white the mycelium is in these jars, especially when you compare it to the much paler mycelium that usually appears after a few weeks when you inoculate via MS. One of the jars pictured above ended up with some straw in it, which hasn't totally colonized. Other than that, all 11 jars look healthy. Total colonization time from when they were inoculated was 11 days, which is totally in line with most G2G's. Now, if only there was something that could be done with these? Hmmm...

I agree. I should've been doing this a long time ago. I guess I must have had a contaminated jar the very first time I tried it a few years back. I remember most of my jars getting a bacterial contamination, so I just gave up on the practice. Everything deserves a second chance.
