Any older gentlemen still binge eating capsaicin?

I just saw a random comment about kimchi being tough on the stomach over time. Idk if they were referring to the ph from the picking, or the spiciness.
I know studies show it's fairly benign, but that long term data is mostly anecdotal. I'm just curious if anyone has anything to report about capsaicin's effect on their body over time.
I eat copious amounts of capsaicin, but it seems like my mouth builds a tollerance faster than my digestive system. Some mornings are rough. Are those symptoms a sign of something bigger, or just general discomfort.

Is that like, from peppers? I eat more tobasco then I should. A bottle a day when I have enough food to use it on. It is one of the best feelings as your face burns

Capsaicin can change the ph in your gut in a good way. I have heard it can help with ulcers.

I think different people have a reaction that does lead to ulcers, but some don't. If you already have an ulcer I think it can be a problem, but if you don't it can help prevent them. Also some people might have a combination of gut bacteria and enzymes that is less able to deal with capsaicin, or you could have things other than ulcers going on that makes you more susceptible to ulcers when your mucous levels or Ph are thrown off.
I thought this was interesting:
Quote:
Epidemiologic surveys in Singapore have shown that gastric ulcers are three times more common in the "Chinese" than among Malaysians and Indians who are in the habit of consuming more chillis. Ulcers are common among people who are in the habit of taking NSAIDS and are infected with the organism "Helicobacter Pylori," responsible for excessive acid secretion and erosion of the mucosal layer. Eradication of the bacteria by antibiotic treatment and avoiding the NSAIDS eliminates ulcers and restores normal acid secretion.

When I eat too much hot stuff I get uncontrollable hiccups for some reason. This started a few years ago, before that I never had this problem.

Like moonrock said, spicy foods prevent ulcers and also make preexisting ones worse.
love_spirit, just Jalapenos, or jalapenos were the only spicy food you liked? I developed a taste aversion to jalapenos and could swear raw jalapenos are spicier than habaneros and serranos to me (cooked is fine). Still weirds me out.
psi, I get that too. Especially when it's a throat/back of the mouth burn.

I heard surinamese women are very likely to get stomach cancer, supposedly from the large quantities of madam jeanette peppers in their diet.
