It has a white spore print. So those are not normally favorable right?

hey buckeye, couple things here - p. atrobrunnea is reported to be from bogs growing from sphagnum, not your lawn, so your expectation is somewhat curious.
secondly, how are you approaching taking a spore print? i'd suggest using foil or a clear glass plate and covering the cap for at least four to five hours with something to reduce drying out.
i'd expect something darker than white from those gills in your pic as the gills' color is almost always related to the color of the spores maturing upon them.
welcome to the forum, stick around & you'll learn what you should be looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions which I will definitely use going forward. Quick question though, for the foil, are you saying take the spore print on the foil? Shiny side or dull side? I was taking the spore print on a white piece of paper, and covering with a cup. I only gave it about 30 minutes though. Thanks again.

i'm not sure it matters too much which side of the foil you use, i guess i use the shiny side.
sometimes i use a thick glass plate i took out of an old 300W work light if i'm only curious and not trying to save it for posterity. easy to wash off and re-use. handy for cutting up sections too. anything clear glass works fine. i've used a pie pan before with another one on top upside down to keep air still.
thirty minutes is just not enough time to get much of a print, especially if your specimens are a bit dehydrated or beat up already.
if you're trying to determine whether something dark is jet black or purple, then i would suggest using some dead white printer paper so you can see if there's some subtle shades of brown which would suggest pan foes rather than something more interesting for instance.
in ohio we're only really blessed with gyms, cincts, p. caerulipes (tis the season!,) and your occasional pluteus. study up on those, and good luck. of course, post pics of what you found.

It has a brown spore print (due to the gill color at this stage of development). I would like to know exactly which shade of brown - please post a pic of the print.
It immediately strikes me as Bolbitius, but Conocybe is also possible. I don't think Psathyrella, though it isn't completely outside of the realm of possibility.
Don't eat it!

I just mowed today, so most of mushrooms in the yard got destroyed. I did find another one though, and just started the spore print process. I will report back with a picture later today.

Here is the spore print. It does look brown, not real dark, and not real light. This sat for about 5 hours under a cup.

I'm not exactly sure, but I have had a few that did that.
