25 year old cactus.

So my mother has had this cactus for 25 years. She doesn't know anything about it other than that it was given to her by her neighbor while she was pregnant with my brother. Anybody able to give me any info on it?

some type of barrel cactus, most likely in the Ferocactus genera. I don't have time to look it up now but if no one else answers I will look when I get home from work.

I agree, Ferocactus.
It's nice when a plant has a story behind it.

I just spend 15 mins trying to figure out what species it is and failed, you'll have to wait for someone else. They closest species I saw was F. pottsii

Agree on both these points. I often enjoy the stories behind plants more than I do the plants themselves.
