Did I overreact? (bed bugs)
    #22049896 - 08/05/15 08:07 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys, could you either confirm my fears or talk some sense into me?  Okay, so today, the office idiot came to work and nonchalantly announces that the reason he's been getting bites on his body for the last month or so is because he has bed bugs(!).  So our acting supervisor calls HR, who tells him to go home and that he can't come back until he gets a doctor's note, saying that he's free of bedbugs.  But I'm freaked out at this point.  I went home, stripped my clothes off, put them in the wash, took a shower, put on new clothes and came back.

When I came back, I started going off about how incredibly inconsiderate it was for him to come in, knowing he has bed bugs, which put us all at risk to catch them.  And I'm sure you all know that if you catch them, it's extremely time consuming and extremely expensive to fully get rid of them.  He doesn't have vacation time, so instead of taking unpaid leave until the problem was taken care of, he came in to share.

He will probably get fired.  Not only because of this though.  This just happened to be the last straw.  But I'm very pissed at him and so are some co-workers.  But a couple of ladies thought we were being harsh on him.  Do you think it's reasonable for someone to come to work in a small office, when they know they're infested with bed bugs.  Or do you think it's reasonable for me and others to be really, really pissed at him because of what he could potentially have done to us?

You're completely reasonable. Bed bugs can get in to anything. They might be right that it's harsh but they also don't know shit.

I agree with you 100%, you had every reason to freak out.

Bed bugs are a serious issue and extremely hard to get rid of

Are bed bugs as bad as fleas? Worse? They look worse. I think you have every right to be pissed. These things are contagious.

My friend has bed bugs in his apartment complex. They literally just won't stop coming out of the walls. I feel bad for him, because the landlords won't do anything about it.

Disgusting little critters

Imagine having an infestation of little crawling mosquitoes that only come out at night to feed on your while you're sleeping and hide in everything from your socks to your couch to your car. Some people end up getting rid of EVERYTHING.

spread that in a circle around all beds in your house.

get some yeast and mix up some sugar water with yeast (warm)... and put the container near where bedbugs might be hiding (bedrooms)...

then make a pile of DE under the container

co2 attracts them, it doesnt suffocate them.

if you attract them with co2, and they walk over DE they die.

if you put a barrier of DE between you and them, they cant eat and they die.

true it takes a long time, but if in the meantime you arent getting bit, what do you care how long it takes.

great advice they drawn to co2 thinking its prey but land in dE dry out lol fuck your exoskeletal faults lol

talcum powder will do too i guess

i read bed bugs are a huge problem nowadays and something like 3/10 homes in the world have big probs and most dont even know it.

only if you react to the bites or see them will you know.
check seams on mattress for dirt and eggs.

you might be surprised!

OP it may have been anyother worker who caused it and passed to that guy lol

they just keeping mouth shut lol
it might not be his fault even clean tidy good people get infestations of these critters and seems most just move away as iyts easier than treating the home.

sulphur soap ect to treat the people then move in new home:smile:
and burn your furniture lol

and take a shower

can neve  be too safe

and be selective with who you trust inyour house
