2 monos, fruiting early...

I had six quart jars of wbs spawn, used two to make two monos. after two to two and a half weeks slow colonizationm I have fruits popping up. doesn't smell funny, but I do think I see metabolites here and there, so I'm fearing it's bacterial. I'll try to post pics of the remaining spawn and the tubs later.
The fruits there seem fine, can I trust what comes out of these tubs? should I take what's there (maybe an 8th dry or so i'd guess) and scrap, or let it play out?

let them fruit imo, give them fae, post some pics. From what Ive learned, all tubs are bacterial to some degree.

Let's see a picture of the tub. Sounds like you need to put this tub into fruiting if you already haven't and I'd let it run it's course

What they said. Unless you're a mushroom god, chances are pretty high there's bacteria in it. Metabolites are just what they sound like. They're metabolizing and digesting the substrate. Metabolites can be an indication of it eating and digesting a contamination, but it's a natural response and it's completely normal. Especially if there's still water

Two weeks is a long time for colonization. Some people fruit after seven days with good results, it depends on how aggressive the mycelium is. How much is the surface covered at this point? And I agree with purplecap, all tubs have some level of bacteria in them because bulk spawning is almost always done in open air.

I think about 70ish percent on both, one maybe a bit less than the other, roughly... I also made the dumb choice not to use a liner so I have side pins and such. So I'll grab pics by tonight and get some proper FAE set up, I did untape some of the holes just a bit to see if it'd help.
Makes sense about the bacteria. The idea being that our myc beats out the other crap to take over the sub. It doesn't seem to be trichy so... I'll keep an eye on it.

I'll bet it's too wet. And probably bacterial too. Check the bottom of it and see if it looks really nasty and wet.. pinning before full colonization is never a good thing

If you're gonna put it into fruiting, remove all taped up holes and stuff with polyfil (bottom holes stuffed tight, upper holes kept loose) and adjust it day-by-day based on your individual tub, conditions, etc.

I personally think it should be fully colonized before you introduce fruiting. It's usually a place to contam easily. What type of substrate op?

I agree, but he was taking off the tape so I assumed he was just gonna fruit the tub.
OP, you need high CO2 levels during colonization, only take off the tape when you're ready to fruit!

worst case scenario.. it's still summer so you can dump it outside, or bury it and watch them suckers grow
