I would say that is fairly accurate of my old high school. Bunch of kids could barely read. It isn't like if you are dyslexic and poor people help you either though.

JustForToday said: "According to a study conducted in late April by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institute of Literacy, 32 million adults in the U.S. can't read. That's 14 percent of the population. 21 percent of adults in the U.S. read below a 5th grade level, and 19 percent of high school graduates can't read.
The current literacy rate isn't any better than it was 10 years ago. According to the National Assessment of Adult Literacy (completed most recently in 2003, and before that, in 1992), 14 percent of adult Americans demonstrated a "below basic" literacy level in 2003, and 29 percent exhibited a "basic" reading level."
Also,
"Adults Age 20 and Older 2. More than two-thirds (68.8 percent) of adults are considered to be overweight or obese. More than one-third (35.7 percent) of adults are considered to be obese. More than 1 in 20 (6.3 percent) have extreme obesity."
So everyone in American is dumb and overweight..
I can see that looking at where I live
Muskegon
Known far and wide as Detroit, minus the redeeming qualities
So, 14% of Americans are illiterate. Do they kill as many as the black 14%? What is the crossover?

Yeah it's some sad shit. My cousin is 30 and can't read or write...what's even worse is he still has absolutely no desire to learn. I'd be embarrassed at 30 to still have to ask some to read my mail to me.

What happened to USA is #1 at everything?

We sure used to be. We stood up for what was right. We fought for moral reasons, we passed laws, struck down laws for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbors, we put our money where our mouths were, and we never beat our chest. We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, explored the universe, cured diseases, and we cultivated the world's greatest artists and the world's greatest economy. We reached for the stars, acted like men. We aspired to intelligence; we didn't belittle it; it didn't make us feel inferior. We didn't identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election, and we didn't scare so easy. We were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed. By great men, men who were revered. The first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one. America is not the greatest country in the world anymore.

Lmao that dude is obsessed. When he goes to sleep, he dreams about the US. When he wakes up first thing in the morning, he's thinking about the US. When he's sitting in the drive-thru line contemplating what dollar menu item he's going to get for lunch, he's thinking about the US (and holding up the line). When he has sex once a year, his dick goes limp before he can get it in because (oops) -- the US slipped in his mind again.
The US owns that poor bastard and he doesn't even realize it.

There is no way that 20% of graduates can't read. How could that be possible? Are they counting the mentally retarded, immigrants, and people with a low IQ.

School is a shit game where they need you to pass, so they give you all sorts of retarded, undeserved breaks. On the flip side, they rarely teach anything in context. WE leaenedAmerican history, sort of. It was a disgusting joke in my opinion, and I have learned more through youtube. Kids should be beyond furious at how the state wastes they youth sending them to these shit factories. It's just the way it is, or whatever dumb ass platitude your parents give you

We're not even close to number 1 at everything.
Apart from that reading and being intelligent aren't synonymous, I deal with a guy who can barely ready anything and hasn't been in school since 13....and has 84 on the job employees and 14 office people working for him.
Reading can help you get further, but acting like theyre dumb because you can read and they cant comes off as pretentious.
"Haha mayweather and his hundreds of millions can't read, what an idiot"
Intelligence isn't what you know but how you apply the information you have, one guy can know everything there is to know and amount to nothing, while someone else can't even read and becomes a self made millionare.
I consider the latter much more intelligent...this thread is trash and a piss poor attempt to feel superior to other people.
