How does shroomery like its steak?

Simple question, should get into a pretty heated debate.
Medium rare is the way to go personally.
Also what kind of sauces do you put on your steak, if any?
Worcestershire for me. It's dank, but if the steak is good enough, i won't put any on.
Option 1 Stal

I usually go medium. I've had medium rare which is also cool, but I just like medium. Never had rare. Never will go back to well done

Medium rare and any sauce put on it is a bastardization. Prefer open flame but high heat on a cast iron will do too.

Depends on the cut, a little bit anyway. Filet would be rare or my exact target is between R and MR, or else raw, maybe pounded out to carpaccio.
I would rather have a ribeye solid mid-rare though to get all the fat flowing.
Some tougher cuts get marinated overnight and take to halfway between MR and M, or just far enough past MR where the grain will start to separate.
I like the half-step intervals but is probably just as appropriate to say "to the more/less done side of" whatever temp. In any event temp alone only gets me there after first factoring in cut, fat content and distribution, prevalence of grain, method etc.

ehh. The definition of heathen is basically someone who goes against any kind of religion, and a heathen in the context of steak would more likely be someone who totally ruined a good cut by overcooking it and needlessly slathering it in cheap sauce. At least, that's what I'd gathered from the steak nazis.
Someone who eats raw steak is totally fucking weird, but at least they actually like the taste if steak.

For me it really depends on the meat itself/where it comes from.
I like a rare steak, but it's gotta be some top of the line beef, fresh, organic and all the hype words. Otherwise I'll order it medium rare-medium. I'm snooty as hell when it comes to food in general though.
Salt, pepper, and maybe some butter/olive oil. No damn sauce.

Medium rare, salt, pepper, and butter. Pan seared on a cast iron skillet 2 and a half minutes each side then placed in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes on high.
Great. Now I am hungry.
Edit: also, I am surprised "blue" is not on the list.

Medium rare-medium (bloody enough to give my potato something to absorb), salt. Spicy A-1.
And here's the challenge. Next time you eat a steak, try dipping it in ranch dressing.

It causes inflammation. It's filler food. Bread is almost always highly processed, and grains produce unhealthy chemicals like unsprouted beans do.

I've never heard of blue before. I'm not much of a steak connoisseur though, just had it for dinner tonight and was curious what the shroomery's opinion is.

it was a reply to fail that I just now caught. That face was intended for pirate and her cooked to leather and covered in ketchup preference for steak that prompted me to post it.
I'll admit it, I am an absolute elitist when it comes to steak. It is pretty much literally the only food I am that way with. But not without reason. As far as I'm concerned if you're eating some sub par quality/cut as "steak" then just call it beef or something. Steak to me is always top of the line stuff, and to destroy it by covering it in sauce or cooking it until your jaw will grow sore from chewing it, is a total waste. A good steak isn't cheap, if you're just going to smother it's flavor with sauce and destroy it with over cooking, then just get "chuck steak" or something. In the end both will taste the same anyways. Difference is the chuck is about a 1/3rd of the price.

This reminded me of the way the steaks in the movie Napoleon Dynamite looked for some reason.
I worked as the lead chef in a small dinner club for a few years, and when I was trained in I was told by the owner that if I need to get a steak to a customer faster I should throw it in the microwave for a few minutes or so before I toss it on the grill. Fucking blasphemy. If a cook did that shit to my steak I would beat him with it.

That's right, because these animals evolved on grass, not grain. Eating plant seeds isnt smart. They are full of toxins because they want to not get eaten. It makes the cow big very fast, which is good on the money side. It is lower quality objectively. Like that Koby beef shit. Fat is great, I eat butter by the boat, but eating a grain fed cow is very gross
I prefer liver to steak

I'd just like to take this time to point out that birds aren't effected by hot peppers and that they are an intended delivery system to spread the seeds. It's the exact opposite from what you've said. They want to be eaten. Most seed needs some kind of dispersal method.
As for corn making up the majority of a livestock animal's diet, it's against nature to begin with. Corn (that we use today at least) hasn't been around near long enough to fill itself with toxins to repel animals from eating it. Corn is a human invention and not a particularly old one. I'm willing to bet that any toxin involved, is also man's doing. Whether it be pesticides or antibiotics.

I know that. We aren't birds. That is a specific survival method plants employ. Also, swallowing a seed and shitting it out isn't what we do with bread. We grind it up. It gets absorbed. That isn't what this thread is about though. Sorry for derailing it I have a whole diet shpeel But this thread is about delicious steak, not boring bread.

No one mentioned grinding up seed for other food. Your post was about how feeding seed to animals is not a good idea. When in fact, that's pretty much the base of evolution for plants. Plants don't walk (or fly or swim) around, so they need something that does to eat their fruit and distribute their seed.

I was talking about us eating them last post These are three very different animals with very different dietary needs. Corn doesn't ferment properly in grass eating animals, and niether does grain. It also makes them gain weight very fast. To most, we are killing them anyway. Very short sighted

I like a rare steak, but it's gotta be some top of the line beef, fresh, organic and all the hype words. Otherwise I'll order it medium rare-medium. I'm snooty as hell when it comes to food in general though.
I get the feeling your just all around snooty no matter what. Can't place my finger on what exactly gives me that idea though.(not sure I'd want to)
Is gluten-free one of those hype words?
Wow, touchy. Whats the problem?
Yes I prefer my steak to be gluten free.

I know, I know. I'm a heathen. I really dislike the taste of red meat, but I'll eat it if it's heavily cooked and seasoned. Steak I almost completely avoid, though.
Medium rare, salt & pepper, absolutely no sauce.

I'll take a porterhouse med/well with a good pinch of ground black peppercorns. Sometimes a little A-1 with tobasco on my steak.

all beef cattle are grass fed, even on feed lots they dont see much grain. genetics have more to do with the fat marbling than the feed, this picture shows us a difference between prime beef and select beef which is the grading of beef based on the fat content

so you're telling us that Wagyu cattle, even the grass fed would be sick because of the fat content? Wagyu are the most cared for cattle in the world, you may know them as Kobe and the meats they produce look like this even with "grass fed" cattle

Rare -> mid-rare depending on the thickness of the cut. Occasionally I'll hammer a pan steak or a chicken friend steak, but those are exceptions, not the rules.
Sauce would be demi glass aux fines herbes emulsified with a big whack of butter, or just pan drippings.

I really want to try that Etheopean thing where they cut chunks out of the cow and eat it raw. If any country in Africa catches my interest it would be Etheopia, and Morocco if not for the Muslem thing. They are too up tight, obviously. I feel like Muslem food would be good though, Spicy. Maybe just camel tits and dates. Dates are fucking tree candy, defenately great. No blood though
