For me it really depends on the meat itself/where it comes from.
I like a rare steak, but it's gotta be some top of the line beef, fresh, organic and all the hype words. Otherwise I'll order it medium rare-medium. I'm snooty as hell when it comes to food in general though.
Salt, pepper, and maybe some butter/olive oil. No damn sauce.

Medium rare, salt, pepper, and butter. Pan seared on a cast iron skillet 2 and a half minutes each side then placed in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes on high.
Great. Now I am hungry.
Edit: also, I am surprised "blue" is not on the list.

Medium rare-medium (bloody enough to give my potato something to absorb), salt. Spicy A-1.
And here's the challenge. Next time you eat a steak, try dipping it in ranch dressing.

I get the feeling your just all around snooty no matter what. Can't place my finger on what exactly gives me that idea though.(not sure I'd want to)
Is gluten-free one of those hype words?

It causes inflammation. It's filler food. Bread is almost always highly processed, and grains produce unhealthy chemicals like unsprouted beans do.

I've never heard of blue before. I'm not much of a steak connoisseur though, just had it for dinner tonight and was curious what the shroomery's opinion is.

it was a reply to fail that I just now caught. That face was intended for pirate and her cooked to leather and covered in ketchup preference for steak that prompted me to post it.
I'll admit it, I am an absolute elitist when it comes to steak. It is pretty much literally the only food I am that way with. But not without reason. As far as I'm concerned if you're eating some sub par quality/cut as "steak" then just call it beef or something. Steak to me is always top of the line stuff, and to destroy it by covering it in sauce or cooking it until your jaw will grow sore from chewing it, is a total waste. A good steak isn't cheap, if you're just going to smother it's flavor with sauce and destroy it with over cooking, then just get "chuck steak" or something. In the end both will taste the same anyways. Difference is the chuck is about a 1/3rd of the price.

This reminded me of the way the steaks in the movie Napoleon Dynamite looked for some reason.
I worked as the lead chef in a small dinner club for a few years, and when I was trained in I was told by the owner that if I need to get a steak to a customer faster I should throw it in the microwave for a few minutes or so before I toss it on the grill. Fucking blasphemy. If a cook did that shit to my steak I would beat him with it.

That's right, because these animals evolved on grass, not grain. Eating plant seeds isnt smart. They are full of toxins because they want to not get eaten. It makes the cow big very fast, which is good on the money side. It is lower quality objectively. Like that Koby beef shit. Fat is great, I eat butter by the boat, but eating a grain fed cow is very gross
I prefer liver to steak

I'd just like to take this time to point out that birds aren't effected by hot peppers and that they are an intended delivery system to spread the seeds. It's the exact opposite from what you've said. They want to be eaten. Most seed needs some kind of dispersal method.
As for corn making up the majority of a livestock animal's diet, it's against nature to begin with. Corn (that we use today at least) hasn't been around near long enough to fill itself with toxins to repel animals from eating it. Corn is a human invention and not a particularly old one. I'm willing to bet that any toxin involved, is also man's doing. Whether it be pesticides or antibiotics.

I know that. We aren't birds. That is a specific survival method plants employ. Also, swallowing a seed and shitting it out isn't what we do with bread. We grind it up. It gets absorbed. That isn't what this thread is about though. Sorry for derailing it I have a whole diet shpeel But this thread is about delicious steak, not boring bread.
