ph Meters
    #2203952 - 12/27/03 12:26 PM (20 years, 3 months ago)

Can anyone recomend any ph 'soil' meters?  :smirk: I would really like one that goes from 0-10. I was thinking about ordering this one
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det...4#more-pictures
Anyone have it? I cant tell if its what I'm looking for by the picture. It says its from true value but my local one doesnt have them in stock. And I dont want to ask to order one from them, cause I think I freak them out by all the weird shit I buy there

Thanks for your opinions!  :rasta:

I have that EXACT ph meter, and I have found that it doesnt read the casing very well, it jumps alittle when pushed in, then quickly goes to 7. It even does it when I tested pure peat moss. I also have tried squeezing water from a moist casing onto test strips for aquariums, and that worked ok. If anyone has any tips on how to get that particular "soil" tester to work better, or what will work, please add on

I bought one of those when I started making casings. It frustrated the hell out of me because it never seemed to work right. Add to that the messy 'priming' required each time you want to read a pH; you have to rub the probe vigorously with a sponge thingie then you're supposed to dump a soil sample in a cup and pour in water, then stick the probe in and wait several minutes. It sucked.

So, then I bought one of these and never looked back:

The one I have is #840037. It works well, is water resistant, and you can push it directly into the casing material while you're mixing it up.

Remember, you get what you pay for.

Hope this helps!
