Anybody else go barefoot whenever possible? 1

I don't see many other people at all who do it, except at hippie festivals, but that just makes me wonder if they normally wear them. I'm getting sick of stores making me leave because I don't have shoes. I could go on my rant about why feet are cleaner than their shoes 9 times out of 10, but its wasted breath. "its company policy."
I shall mention some benefits: The obvious one is your body was built to walk like that, but the coolest part is how engaging it makes walking. Walking is normally boring, but without shoes you have constant sensory input from your feet that you're not accustomed to. You're also on constant guard for painful obstacles like rocks, broken glass, pieces of wood. These two things combined transform the incredibly mundane act of walking into a much more engaging experience. Going barefoot can also actually be better than having shoes in certain situations, especially when you need to slowly slide down something mostly vertical (noticed it when I was descending a tree where the landing was quite tricky, so I just clung to the trunk with my feet, something you could never do with shoes, and slowly slid down.) One of the other really great benefits, particularly for me, is they seem to help my ingrown toe-nails immensely. May be a specific case because it seems now that my toenail issue was caused by narrow shoes, but who knows, others may have the same problem and not realize it because they wear shoes everytime they need to do serious walking.
I got the whole idea from a wilderness survival show called "Dual Survival." (one of the more quality survival shows if you haven't seen it. most survival shows blowww) One of the characters always went barefoot, except in snow he would wear wool socks.
If I inspire anyone to try the barefoot life, go easy on sidewalks. Your feet can get raw from skin rubbing off really quickly when you first start out.

I go barefoot whenever possible too. It's bullshit that there's such a stigma behind it.
I hate being told that I need to wear shoes because going barefoot is unhygenic; our hands touch so many more things than our feet, but no one walks around wearing gloves all day.

thats an excellent point, I'd never heard that one before
My bit about the hygiene deal is: When I step in something, I am very aware of it and will seek to wash it off immediately. When somebody wearing shoes steps in something, they will only notice if it produces an odor or sticks to the floor. Not to mention the fact that you can't clean shoes very well in the moment, so people likely have ancient yucky stuff inside the tread of their shoes, just sitting there for months.
And the fact that clothing produces more bacteria. Having your feet in a really humid/hot environment sounds so much more hygenic

What I'm about to say could easily be quackery: But the rubber soles of shoes could prevent you from being electrically grounded to the earth. Since electromagnetic fields seem to interact with life this could be another benefit. The electromagnetic field produced by your heart may interact with the natural magnetic field of the earth in a beneficial way when shoeless
What sorts of places kick you guys out for being barefoot? IME its convenience stores most often. I've never tried going to fancy places barefoot though.

I never really try to walk into stores for being barefoot since I don't want to deal with the bullshit. I've been in a steak n shake before and had some guy staring at me the entire time I ate my meal.
I mostly just stick to home, friends' houses, and wherever that isn't a store.
What kind of businesses do you not get kicked out of?

I enjoy how much it weirds some people out. "why aren't you wearing shoes?" "Why are you wearing shoes?"
Glad to see so many barefoot brethren btw

no fucking way, knowing the city I live in, I'd end up with hepatitis.
Whenever I'm not walking around a big dirty ass city, then yeah, I love being barefoot - but everyday life? Noooo.
