Air for jars?
    #22038882 - 08/03/15 06:30 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

How exactly does air get in the jars for collination? Or does there need to be air for the cakes?

they do breathe yes. but the lid is what lets the jars breathe. print off the TEK and have it with you so you don't make any mistakes. second link in my signature is a good place to get started. the first link also, there's a list of guides and TEKs there too.

Through the filter holes.

On BRF jars it's the nails you hammered down, in qt jars it's the hole you put in the center top. It's called Gas Exchange.

They dont need air but they need a gas exchange. one small hole covered in tyvek will provide proper Gas exchange. Becareful with too much exposure through air holes because that can cause the jars to dry out.
