Yellow mycelium edges during incubation

I've searched the forums for as many keywords as I can think of, but couldn't find anything recent or relevant.
Is it a bad thing when, during incubation, the edges of mycelium converge, that joint area turns yellow? All I could find in the forums refers to the fruiting stage.
Should that jar be allowed to air out or is it contaminated?

Can't get a good enough picture to show the color very well. But the two spots that grew from the inoculation spots finally converged. And right where they touch each other, a thin faint line of infected-pus yellow can be seen. That's the only discoloration, though. The rest of the mycelium looks dandy.
Question, though. What do you mean by metabolites? Are the two growths trying to 'eat' each other?

I'll wait till the discoloration gets more defined, then I'll post more pictures. Either way, one out of four jars is a fairly decent ratio for a first attempt, right?

That jar looks bacterial dude. And yeah 1 out of 4 is okay for the first time around, but your yields will be very low. I would say jump into bulk for your next grow, it's soo much easier than messing with cakes.
