Unsure about wbs

I'm on the fence as to whether these are ready to spawn. I've seen wbs pics like this that have been told yes, spawn it, and same looking ones on another post say wait. I'm going nuts lol

I still see some visible kernels pressed up against the glass that need to be fully covered in mycelium before spawning. Did you shake that jar at 30% colonization or did you just leave it to colonize? Shaking helps redistribute the grains, and the mycelium has a chance to cover everything.

Now u don't want to see any wbs, at all, correct? Not even if it is covered by myc that's semi transparent? Would u shake that up again just to finish it off?

I say spawn them. I would like to see a close up of the jar on the right in the first pic tho. What were they inoculated with?

I've put them all back into their tub. There's 16 n couldn't tell u for sure which one was the far right. I used this, http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20410651 for inoculation.
But here's a close up of one that's fairly similar to the rest

See that's what has me questioning if it is "clean" spawn. Whispy-like growth that looks transparent could be signaling that cobweb mold is beginning to overtake the mycelium. Obviously, I'd like to see a close up pic of the jars before advising you to spawn or not to spawn.

It isn't grey like other pics I've seen of cobweb, and wasn't terribly fast...which, along with me really not wanting it be cobweb lol, leads me to lean towards the not cobweb side of things...

Lol that's the problem!! I don't know yet!! Lol. This is my second frow from cakes I don't have the patience for any more. Alright, I'm gonna start my bulk pasteurization tomorrow then. Unless I get a deffinate "you're bout to fuck it up" lol. Thanks all

Make sure you properly pasteurize your substrate. I use Frank's Easy Pasteurization tek, http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17246844#17246844 and it works great!

just make sure you smell them real good before you spawn them. get that into your memory so if they go bad or good you have an association for future reference. but I would go for it.

Whispy growth can be dry grains. I had grains like that that went on to produce a couple ozs a flush.

I'm using pint jars 3/4 full, so it would end up being 2 qts of bulk per 2 jars of wbs...right? 2 jars of my wbs (1.5 pints) = 3/4 of a quart (one normal wbs jar)

too much thinking, just stuff the bulk jars full and call it good

Yea for me, its basically a 1:1 ratio right? 1 qt of bulk for 1 pint jar of wbs. Thanks again, a lot

I wait a few days after full colonization so I'd say wait.
If you spawn too early it will only delay full colonization of your sub and invite contams. There is no advantage to spawning early and there are potential disadvantages.
The best protections against contams are fully colonized jars/cakes and properly pasteurized subs.

what are them dangers, too vigorous growth?
use jars at 100% both for spawning and g2g, keep the myc in an expanding state, not a lazy grain munching one
