Sterilizing in pressure cooker right now! The rocker doesn't seem to be doing anything no matter how hot it gets, but I'm keeping it at a nice simmer and I'll do for 60-90 minutes. I have 6 jars in now.

Did you set on high heat with water just touching the bottoms of the jar? Did you allow the PC to blow steam for a straight minute before putting the rocker on? Did you check if the PC goes to 15psi or just 12?

The PC does not have a gauge I was surprised, myself. I put on high heat with the water barely touching the bottoms of the jars, with lids and aluminum foil separating the jars from the bottom of the pc

You want that rocker to be shaking like crazy to be sure it's up to pressure, before turning it down to medium heat. THEN start your timer.

Invest in an All American pressure cooker. Only one you'll ever need.

That's not good. Make sure the vent inside your PC isn't blocked or anything, and read the instruction manual if you still have it.

Sorry about the pics, guys. I'll be sure to put some up next time. But I'm preparing to take the jars out of the pressure cooker. I'm putting 3 more in later, so I will troubleshoot with that PC later. It seemed to work fine besides the rocker not going. You could hear water boiling and coming down to a simmer. Pressure cookers seem a bit unnecessary to me, tbh. Esepcially for PF Tek. Over-complicated. But what do I know

For grains, it's completely necessary, unless you plan on growing some mold for you and your friends to eat . I always PC my WBS jars at 15psi for 90 minutes and have never had an issue.

Alright guys! I inoculated 5 jars of B+ cubensis with between 1/2cc and 1cc for each jar. Some have a tad more in than others, as I have a friend who lives by 1/2cc for 1/2pt jars, but I hear 1cc is perfect, so I decided to experiment a tiny bit. Not great for my first time, but I have a few jars worth to spare, so I figured I'd have some fun. One of the jars got exposed to a little bit of outside air, however. 1/4 of the top was revealed for about a second. Is this a huge deal? Anyway, I took the jars and placed them in the corner of my room in an open box facing opposite the wall. It is by a window but does not recieve direct light from it.

Was the top on? If so, it's cool. The reason for the dry verm layer is to make it irrelevant the quality of air you have coming in as the dry verm will catch any possible contams.
Take the foil off.

Okay thanks Foil was taken off after picture was taken. I'm sterilizing one jar right now, in which I inoculate with Golden Teahcers.

1 cc per jar. The less spores the slower the colonization.
Are you inoculating before sterilization?

Ok I'll be sure to put a full cc into this one. And no, I am inoculating after sterilization haha. I meant to put "in which I WILL inoculate"

Btw, for the sterilization, I wait until the water starts boiling, then I turn it down to a simmer for 60-90 minutes. Do you recommend this method?
