Had this one a while, and wondering what label to give it. It catches the sun easily and doesn't green up very much, perhaps a touch of variegation? The spines are very stiff and remain dark with age.

Idk. The coloring can just be from too much sun. Ive got a few pedros that stay light green because of sun.

Looks similar to a couple of my Peruvianoids but quite different at the same time. I see the lower growth isn't as pronounced as the upper, new growth. This happened with my Peruvianoids as well, but doesn't mean much as all cactus do this as conditions change and they age.
I suppose I'm not really sure what to name it.
Any new spine growth pictures? Do they come out reddish and then darken?
Nice cactus regardless.

It has been in lower light than the rest of my trichs for over 3 years, sees less light than some seedlings. I guess I could drape some shade cloth straight over it, or grow out the cut tip in an even more shaded area and see what happens.

It keeps nice and compact too, short distance between areoles. Something about it just seems different, especially compared to the rest of the pachs and perus here.

I would just say pachanoi, maybe some sort of hybridation. This exemplar is really interesting in color and delicate notches. I know that many of you are keen to label everithing and I can understand it,but unless someone has the exact same clone, provided with a name, we are only speculating. It's always intresting to get a new "brand" of pachs, bridgs or perus . To today I'm keeping an eye on 2 little groups that may grow in some intresting pachs and bridges with different features. I went a bit off topic TL:DR great exemplar, I'd label pach.

Oh no shortage of actives here that is for sure But that doesn't preclude testing this one I might take another arm off it, one that is quite scarred from sunburn from years ago and focus the growth onto the remaining arms.
These spines, when stabbed by them, feel different to a pach attack, and newer spines aren't as weak and easily knocked off as they usually can be.

I'm awash with actives, loads of bridgesii, pach, peru on hand, got to put up a 2nd greenhouse just for trichs!
Just looking for an ID for the above cacti simply for labelling purposes as it is fairly different to the rest I have, after tending to it for a few years, it hasn't greened up much at all but seems happy enough. It doesn't see much direct sun, only late in the afternoon/early evening.

you won't be able to tell untill you get true new growth.

Look at this dude "schooling" MH, like he knows nothing about cacti. I am bewildered. I agree that is is probably a pach hybrid...maybe with cuzoensis?

Haha C_T. Nice to see you posting here mate. I should get in touch, been useless with that lately.
I'd just label it Trichocereus sp. I don't think it's a peruvianoid now that I see the new pictures. The White, large areoles do resemble some of my non PC pachanois but spines are more yellow than mine.
It's a mutt or something we don't often see. The way you have to keep it shaded more than others is quite interesting. I do find certain species can withstand more sun than others but yours does sound quite sensitive, which kind of suggests slight variegation I suppose. My variegates are very prone to bright light.

Just tossing a name out there .... T. riomizquensis
I would keep it as Trichocereus sp. like karode13 recommended.
